Struggles

I had surgery in January 2011.... My starting weight was 278lbs and I am down to about 225.... I have been stuck here for MONTHS! I am so embarrassed and I feel terrible... I skipped my last fill because I was to embarrassed to go to the dr with no weight loss and possibly a weight gain of a few lbs. I am very emotional and short with the people I care about. I am currently on the depo shot and I am wondering if this is also hindering my weight loss. I have made the decision to discontinue the depo shot and I also made an appointment for a fill on Friday. I was just wondering if anyone else has delt with this or has any good advice? I am not good about following the rules and I recently started nursing school which I feel is hindering my weight loss even more due to poor meal planning.... I am just reaching out for any advice or words of wisdom anyone may have! Thanks :)

Take it easy. Don't beat yourself up. Cut yourself some slack but don't slack off.

No one ever said it would be easy, just that it would be worth it. (Im full of them)

To embarrassed to see the Dr? I bet you were embarrassed at 278 but you got your butt in there, yes?

Hey life gets in the way of life. I've had my ups(284) downs(200) and am now working at it again.

Don't go looking for excuses. Just make a plan to move forward.

Good luck!!!

I've been banded almost 5 years. Started at 316. Got down to 240 in 8 months then got pregnant. Baby born, then I continued until i got down to 195. For the past 2 yrs I've been up and down between 220 and 245. I went in and got another fill and now I can't eat much. I need it to b that way. If I can eat it I will. So for me, being tight is the only way it works for me. Long story short.....it's ok! Ur doc is there to help u! Get ur self in and get that fill! Nothing to b ashamed of! U didn't go thru this to not utilize it! Go! Get to it :-)

Thank you! :) and you are right... I have been making a ton of excuses... I recently got engaged (wedding planning) and also started nursing school... and with the stress of everything it makes it easy to make exuses... Im also TERRIBLE at putting my self first... I just joined a gym (my christmas gift to my self) and called the girls that car pool with me to school and told them if they would like to continue to ride with me that they would have to either go to the gym or find something to do while I was there! :) Im excited and after reading some of these stories, deleting facebook and putting my christmas decorations up i feel very motivated! :) Thanks again!

I had Lap Band one year ago. I have had the same problem. The doctor i use told me no matter what happens (weightloss or not) come back in. He said that it can be a matter of .5cc to get the band where it is suppose to be. So with that being said, the last fill i had was the magic one. I have dropped 13 pounds since November 1!!! Girl you need to get back in there and let the Doctor do his job :) I know how you feel, it is so hard to stay positive when you are jumping on the scale and nothing is happening. I feel that i am constantly being watched on what i eat and how much i weigh by my coworkers. But i keep going for me and no one else!!! You can do this!! I started at 299 pounds a year ago and weighed in today at 222. Dr. Davis told me with the band it takes two years to lose most of the weight!!! So keep going you will be skinny soon :) Merry Christmas!

Losing weight has less to do with a fill than the right attitude. I was banded 5-10-11 and by 11-10-11 I lost 100 pounds to my goal. I was never banded. I do no exercise at all. It is all about calories in and calories out. I keep meticulous track and for the first 4 months did not go over 750 in a day. Now i allow myself 1100-1200 because I want to lose 14 more pounds. (my doctor says it is ok)

So....

Do you keep track of what you eat? Plan your meals? Take the food onto your plate you are allowing yourself and no more after that?

Do you avoid: caloric add-ons to food. For example I use yellow mustard on everything. (it is zero/tsp but brown mustard is 5/tsp) Do you use zero-calorie dressings for your salad? Do you avoid ketchup and oil-based condiments?

Do you NEVER drink 10 minutes before to an hour after your meal? This is btw my NUMBER 1 rule. It allows delayed emptying and you stay hungry longer.

Do you keep very low cal snacks in the frig such as: no far sugar free puddings, pickles (which are zero) lettuce, sweet peppers, etc?

Did you have dessert on Thanksgiving?

Think about these questions and if you want to chat email me at:

Don't be hard on yourself, Do you count calories or are you seeing a nutricianist? I see one and it helps cause I keep a food journal and if, i dont lose in a months she will go over my journal.
