ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I met with the surgeon. He does not think I need the surgery. He says based on my weight loss so far and my "line backer" build he does not think that I really have much more to lose and I could do that with out the band. He says that if I still want the surgery he would do it, but he wants me to think about it. He says that based on being a male of my build I could be healthy at a BMI of 30. I started at 42, I am currently at 35.

I am so freaking confused.

and the bottom line is this is your life, your choice. was it hard for you to lose the weight you have already lost. can you maintain the weightloss or will you gain it all back ... plus some?

what about other health issues.... do you have any?

I recently put a band in at a bmi of 35 and have not regretted it. I have lost weight before only to gain it back. my band will help me with the rollercoaster rides that that i know longer want to put myself through. I look for the band to help me stay on an even keel, not just to lose weight. I need the life long changes, not just another diet. you body, your life, your choice.

I totally agree with your doc! The band isnt for you. Im not at 30 BMI yet and Im wearing a size 10. Research what it means to eat clean and how body builders shred their fat before competitions. My surgeon's wife is a fitness competitor and he informed me about this. Learn how to eat - its A LOT of food- and your fat will melt off! YOU dont need this band. Unless someone is terribly overweight anyone can do this on their own. Oh, the things I wish I knew before I spent 15K !

the question is not merely is your BMI appropriate for the surgery, but will you keep off the weight that brought you down to 35?? If not, and the odds are you won't (sorry) then do it now from this level so that maintenance into the future will be so much easier.
