lapband-fill-band.gif

I have had 3 fills so far (2ccs, 1cc, .5cc = 3.5ccs total) and I still can not truly feel the effect of the band. I have gotten stuck a couple of times and I can't eat anything in the mornings (except yogurt) so I know it's there. Maybe it has helped a little but nothing to really control my eating. Yeah I know that I have to do my part- but when is the band going to do it's part?! If I could do this on my own I certainly wouldn't have had surgery!!!

I know we are suppose to eat proteins first...so that is something new I am going to do with breakfast and lunch. Dinner time I always eat proteins, but for breakfast I usually have slider food and lunch is a salad or something not really protein based. I am working out so that's good. This is so frustrating and the weight loss has been at a standstill for so long! I hear the people with a 10cc band don't truly reach their sweet spot until 5-7ccs. I don't know hoe true that is but that would mean 3 more fills before I am at 5ccs!! UGGGH!!! (my doctor only gives .5ccs for each visit after you reach 3ccs).

I have a standing appointment for August 22nd-that would be 11 days after this past fill and I simply don't know if he would give it to me that soon-but why not if it's not doing anything? I am also going on a cruise the 25th and debating if I want a fill that close to my trip. I certainly don't want to eat like a pig-and we all know cruises are pig-fests in disguise!! Oh woe is me! I really thought almost 3 months after surgery I woul be rocking this band thing-who knew that it would take so long before things start moving!

But getting back to the protein thing...I do tend to eat a lot of slider-type foods-ummm maybe I need to tweak that and see if I have better results. I'll let you know how it goes!

Your story sound like my own. I am three months out and I am tight in the AM but i have no restriCtions at all in the evening. I workout everyday...really everyday. I think that is what's helping me. I am down 31- -33 lbs. But I think what jumpstarted my weight lost was I had to have another surgery not related to lapband on July 27. That was 2 day in the hospital on a healthy heart diet. I think thats helped me to drop the weight.

Maybe you are getting to many calories from the slider foods. Are you able to drink and eat at the same time.

I wouldnt get another fill. Ive been there. I thought the tighter I was the more weight I would lose and that just wasnt the case. I had to end up getting an un-fill. I found I wasnt able to get enough calories in to substain my workouts let alone lose fat. Its been 10 months for me and I just hit 45 lbs lost. For many of us it is a VERY slow process. If you are one of those people you must just learn to accept that. The band does about 15% of the work. 70% is your diet and te other 15% is your exercise. 5 bariatric surgeons told me this in a seminar I went to before surgery. I didnt believe them. I really thought I could work out hard and lose weight quicker. NOT true. I lose maybe half of a pound a week and I do all the right things.

I hear you - i'm 5+ weeks out - down about 30 and have really not exercised much at all. I have, however, stuck meticulously to the 800 calories per day. I will exercise for sure if i hit a plateau to kick start the weight loss - but for now i'm losing based purely on the calories. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!:D

I would try adding protein into each of your meals, that will keep you fuller for longer. Are you eating the specified amounts of food given by your surgeon? I follow a strict plan from my surgeon of 2 protein shakes a day plus one meal that consists of 3 oz lean protein & 6 oz veggies. After I finish my protein I judge my hunger level and see if I need to continue on to the veggies, most of the time I don't need to finish them. I am 8 weeks post-op and have not gotten any fills (although I know I was given 4 cc at time of surgery). What I keep telling myself is "Just because you can eat it, doesn't mean you should".

As far as getting a fill so close to going on your cruise I probably wouldn't do that. Not sure If all Dr's do this but mine requires 24 hour clear liquids, 2 days protein shakes only, 2 days mushy foods, then finally back to regular foods. I know I wouldn't want to be bothering with all that while one vacation!

Good Luck!

here here! i am right there with you. i am almost 3 months out and i'm stuck between 17-20 pounds lost! wth!!! i lost 15 on the pre-op diet! ugh!!!1 soooo frustrating. i work out with a trainer 2x's a week and another 2x's on my own. i've gotten stuck and slimed several times as well. sometimes i feel like i dont have a band and sometimes i do. i'm so embarrassed that i havent lost more by now, but i have lost clothing sizes. froma 18/20 to a 16...i just dont understand why the scale is going the wrong way, but my clothes tell me different. i know they say muscles weighs more, but could i be gaining that much muscle. really! i was contemplating another fill i'mat 7.5 cc's, but i'm going to wait it out. i've been told in the beginning you will lose more inches than pounds.. well hell how long is the "beginning" going to last! ugh! i feel your frustration!
