I have 3 days to surgery, Aug. 11, 2011. I know I have done all the reasearch one can do, but now all of a sudden I feel as if my mind has gone "Blank". I have plenty of material to look back at but I know all the answers were in my head where now this void is. Oh well there is no going back now, I just have to remember why I'm doing this. I hope my experience is a good one and I hope you all will support me on my journey. I'll write this blog so I can remember the steps I had to take to get to where I hope to one day be. My goal weight is 135 and I'm starting at 196. Doesn't sound so bad, but as they say it's eaiser said than done!

I hope you do wonderfully! I am 3 mo post op. Surgery was wonderful and so is my banded life. There are some adjustments, the band (if you like to eat) doesn't just stop you from WANTING to eat. I now realize, I liked to eat, didn't have to be hungry to do it, just liked to eat. This is a mental thing and the surgery doesn't help with the mental things that go thru your mind. I wish you luck, a quick recovery and much sucess. I wouldn't change a thing at this point after my surgery, so pleased that I did it. Good luck! PS I have lost 54 pounds as of today YOU CAN DO IT!

Wow..You can remember the steps. But your right , it is easier when you can go back and read how you were feeling. I had a Day 5 and 6 where I was alittle sad. Not about food, just sad that food seemed so important to me. Maybe because I am hungry or my stomach or my mind thinks I am hungry. So alittle regret creeped in. Its gone now. We are heading in the same direction. I am at 205 now and 130 is my goal. I will settle for 140 I am sure I will know when I actually get to the point where I am my healthiest. I am so excited for you and you will remember all the information is still stored in your head. YOu have been a great help to me and I am here for you too. I need to update my blog as well..:D Keep Blogging :D

Good luck to you!! I am two weeks post op and I will give you some advice as to what could help you through the first week (which I thought was the hardest). My actual surgery was GREAT! I had the best Doctor in North Carolina!! Day One: your voice is gone, your tongue is probably white and you feel like you have swallowed a bag of cotton balls. Drink your little 2oz an hour and to be honest, freeze the 2oz when you get home because it lasts longer. I also did gatorade to help with flavor. Take the highest dose of your pain med every time you can for the first three days just to stay as comfortable as possible, don't be a superman! Once you are past that it's pretty easy. Have people help you up off the couch, chair, etc because using your belly muscles can be painful. I hope you have strong thighs! Walk as much as you possibly can. My mom and I went shopping and walked the dogs everyday just to make sure I wasn't laying around too much. Once you are tired though, make sure you sleep. Rest is very important to healing. Worst case scenario for the first two week is WATER AND WALKING. If you can't do protein it's okay, but water/clear liquids are important. One last thing, if you feel like you have gas bubble traveling up and down your chest then watch your temperatures. Too hot or too cold can cause stomach spasms and THEY HURT, that is the only thing I cried tears over through the entire process (besides surgery being my first anesthesia experience). I hope this helps a bit and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! I am sure someone on here has a cure. Good luck tomorrow and I will be praying for you. It's the beginning of your new life and you'll feel great!

I am pre op as well and so nervous. I am going for my operation on August 23rd..... I am so scared and I am thinking of backing out. I wish you the best and please keep me informed on how the surgery goes and how you are doing.

I pray that all goes well and God is on your side all the way!!!

Let me tell you that being nervous never entered my mind. Also I told as many people as I could because then I could never back out. Go eat a pizza (I did before surgery. my doctor had no restrictions at all!) cause later you won't want to.
