Small Bites

I'm wondering how I'm going to do with the whole concept of small bites whenever I go back to eating after the surgery. I've read that your bite sizes should generally be no larger than the tip of your index finger. I've even gone and bought baby spoons. But, to be honest, in the past, I ate huge bite sizes, and pretty fast too. I know I have to slow down and chew forever, but with just a baby-spoon size, it must take forever just to eat a scoop of something. I know I'll just have to do it, but I think I'll need a couple of PB's to keep me in line. Old habits die hard. We'll see.

It's ok I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you...Your body will naturally tell you what you want to tolerate and what you can't. Even if it does actually take a PB or two, trust me after that you will sooooo learn your lesson, LOL.

It may be a little difficult at first once your band finally get's to it's tightest point, but trust me you learn to break the habit much faster and easier then you would think. Totally smart buying the baby spoons BTW. I love using small forks, spoons and little saucer plates and baby bowls now when preparing my food and eating it. It just makes the whole experience more fun, and easier too.

You will see how your eyes start to magicly change along with your stomach... It's totally cool. Our bodies are so adaptable!

P.S. Don't get discouraged if you find you can eat very easy or a lot at first. Some bandsters (like me) have their bands very loose for the first couple months, and I felt like I was (almost) able to eat like normal. It just depends on your doctor and what size band you get. Mine was a 14cc extra large. It helps to know your band and how much fill they put in each time. Don't be scared to ask your doc about that. ; )

I eat normal bites but I chew a lot and only swallow a little at a time. You will see, its not as bad as you think. And the others are right. Ive gotten so many things stuck and threw up if I didnt chew enough or ate too fast. I know they say you arent suppose to drink when you eat, but for me, I need the liquid to help push the food down. Maybe defeating the purpose, but I need to do that in order to eat.
