Don't freak out! LOL! It will be fine. You will lose the weight on the liquid diet. You will be hungry before your first fill but just focus on eating the things they suggest. It's not an easy process and you will learn ALOT along the way. I've been banded since Nov. 2008. I would be happy to answer any questions you have pre and post surgery. Good luck to you!!

I was banded June 8th 2011 - It is a surprisingly EASY process - the liquid diet did not bother me at all after the first couple of days - Probably because I was so EXCITED to finally be on the way to a new life - I have wanted this for so long I never cheated on the liquid diet or any of the rules after surgery - I am currently on muhies (soft foods) and try other solids as I feel I can do (per my doc) I am eating about 500-600 calories a day and NOT hungry, eat my protein first always -I am sure as I get closer to my first fill date that will change however again I have wanted this for so long I do not want to do anything I should not - Hopefully this will all continue long term~I am a newbie and no expert but feel free to contact me anytime with questions - also support

I am 8 days post banding. Things went very smothly. I lost almost 20 pounds prior to surgery and am down at least 10 pounes in the last week. I was worried about the liquid diet and afterwords but it has not been bad at all. Please let me know if you need any suggestions.

Haha I was banded June 21 and hun it is scary its a life change but man its worth it! You will have a new you and you who you will be proud to be a healthy you! I was horrible at the liquid diet I cheated the first week aftr 2 days but got right back on it and lost 13 pounds in 9-10 days, as for the surgery I wasnt nervous or anything when I got to the hospital but as soon as they wheeled me back to the OR I started to freak my nurse had the Band and assured me it was well worth it, post op isnt bad of course you will be sore but get up and walk and walk and walk. After surgery the diet isnt bad at all, I am just trying to say its not as bad as you think! You choose the surgery for a reason and just keep your goal in mind. I to am not an expert but I can be here to help support you!

I was banded on April 12th,2011 and everything I have done so far has been great. My advise to you is: soon after your surgery..when you can,get up outta that bed and walk, I mean,If you have to.back n forth in the house. Go for short walks in the yard.(dont over do it though) It help with the gas pain you will be feeling after surgery. And trust me if you lay up in the bed you WILL feel worse with the pain. But all in all, i have had no problems,Im fixing to go for my 3rd fill an i cant wait for that! Ive lost 37 lbs so far. And I walk every day

My doctor didn't demand any weight loss prior to surgery. In fact, I gained 5 pounds in the last week with no ill affect. I encourage you to read my personal blog entries and you won't be scared anymore.
