I am not currently dealing with a non supportive spouse, but I can tell you this. You will have to ultimately do what makes you happy. Yes, at some point you will be too tight and throw up. I think those who never have this are completely lucky, but the majority of us bandsters have had that happen at least once. And, it's no big deal. You have a little fluid taken out or eat a little slower (and, you will recognize what food you can and can't have). But, ultimately, you will lose weight and will be able to tell him, "I told you so" :-)

I like what qtney1 said you have to do whats right for you. And wont that be a sweet day when you can say I told you so. My husband wasn't to thrilled at first either. But I let him know I wasn't asking for permission. Since then he has been very caring. At first he only thought about how it would effect him. Grant it Im not fun as much fun anymore during mealtime, but I will be a blast in other ways rolleyes.gif

It was the same for me. Actually it took 3 yrs just to do it. I also had to let him know I'm not asking for permission although that is harder to say only because he is paying for my loan. After the surgery he actually was very excited and noticed I had lost weight and he never had said any thing before. Now I've only lost 20 since the surgery (it's horrible) so now he doesn't I told you so about getting sick because I don't get sick at all or have many of the side effects witch i almost wish i had so he keeps telling me he wasted 5 grand on my stomach.. Of course that is almost worse than hearing I told you so. So, even hearing that don't worry he will eat those words when he see's you feeling good about yourself and you won't feel like that forever, it's not like you can never loosen the band. Secretly I think they are worried about the men who will really notice us now. Mine never says it but I can see it. You will be fine and you have suppport here.

My husband didnt like me doing it but I did it anyways because I wanted it and now he tells me after only having mine done 7 months ago and lost 60 pounds the he is proud of me and glad I did what makes me happen because he is happier with a happier wife and that made me feel good! I did this for me and no one else so you just do the same!!!

Thank you guys, my husband and myself are Nurses he work ER so he see patients come in quiet often with nausea and vomiting after Lapband placement. Believe me I have done my research and many that come thru the ER have either over eaten or eaten the wrong type of food. Very seldom its a complication with the Lapband itself, they always perform Ct scan or abdominal Xrays and find nothing wrong. They are treated with IV fluids and nausea medication and sent home. I will just keep reassuring him that I will follow my Post-op diet to the letter. When he see the new thinner and happier Kaye he will be happy!
