I started my lap band journey in February 2010. I am 5 feet 4 inches. I weighed 296 pounds. I had my surgery in October 2010. Currently, I am 209 pounds. For the last 3 months, I have gained and lost the same 4-6 pounds. I had gotten down to 198 ponds, but I was throwing up everything. I had to have fluid removed from my band. I am now going through the process of trying to find my "sweet spot" all over again. I have had 3 fills since the fluid was removed. I have felt no restriction at all, well until recently. I had a fill over a week ago. I have been able to eat whatever I wanted, and this morning I feel restriction. I am still not sure how this whole band works. I mean why would it tighten so long after the fill. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to jump start my weight loss again? I mean it seems like everyone is different. The band works differently for everyone, so how do you stay motivated during periods of no weight loss? I do not mean to seem insensitive to those who are also struggling and have lost less weight then I have. I am proud of my loss, but I still need to lose so much more, and I just feel like I am stuck. Thanks for reading my blog.

Wow, Steph, I applaud your success. I hope find your way again... I had my surgery November 2010 and only lost 30lbs. I am still struggling. I blame myself since I have not gone to the gym... God bless and I wish you well.

I was banded on June 21st 2011 and my starting weight was 325 / 6’1 tall and my current weight is now 250. I am very sensitive to fills and I only have 4.25 in a 10cc standard band. I have had three over fills in which fluid had to be removed. There are times when the least bit of food is too much for me to handle so I’ve learned to deal with eating by chewing my food really well. There are a few times that I can enjoy a reasonable meal without getting the stuck feeling. There are the majority of times I can get very little down without having to throw up. It's like my band has a mind of its own every day it’s not the same for me. Before my surgery I was wearing a size 24-26 and today at work I have a size 14 dress.

Those are the things I feel the most proud about. I feel like the scale is not always moving but my clothes are fitting differently every single week. I learn not to pay that much attention to the scales but what size do I currently fit into on weekly basis. I guess each person has to determine what they consider to be success. I do wish you the very best with your band

Stephanie. You've lost a lot of weight! Thats awesome. Just like the person above, its been 9 months for me and I have only lost 32 lbs also so Im envious of your success. I have been exactly where you are. I had to have all my fluid removed due to throwing up all the time and not being able to get anything down. I just went in for the last fill that my doc will give me. Im at about 7 cc in 10 cc band and he said that is it. At this point my stomach is only open about the size of a dime. I was afraid to get the last fill ( which was only .3) because I didnt want to be sick. I think Im where I should be and I am losing about 1 lb a week now. I drink a protein shake with 25 grams of protein after 11 am, then make sure that everything I eat after that has protein in it. Im still able to eat whatever I want, even bread. Im just very careful and only eat a small amount.....very.....slowly! I havent had a problem since. I make sure to get 100 grams of protein a day. I also drink 1 gram of liquid L Carnitine 2x a day. That has really helped. It metabolises sugar and fat.

I have 30 more pounds to go, but I know I will get there. I needed to lose 60 lbs from the beginning... and I knew it would take me about 2 years to do. I work out very hard but still this process for me is crazy slow. You will get there!!!!!! Hope this has helped
