OK so I was banded on 04/20/2011 and I have lost inches and about 23 pounds. My problem is I hear of everyone eating mushies which I havent.

Im able to eat a lot with the proper amount of chewing. Im wondering what everyone is eating. Tonight for dinner i had 2 taco bell bean burritos.

I know we are suppose to eat 1 cup of food but thats gotta be more then a cup. i did pick away alot of the tortilla.

Im still having my protein shakes in the morning and having chicken or tuna for lunch. Are you suppose to be able to eat 2 chicken thighs? I didnt think so but it goes down so easy.

I did try green beans and wont do that for a while that was extremly painful the next day. Gas!!

On occasion i feel discomfort under my ribcage. Like it did when I was pregnant and had a fist or foot up there. What is that?

Im trying and will keep trying to stay away from pasta and bread. I went to dinner last night with my bff and kids which I havent done in a year so I was looking foward to it and well everyone picked chinese(my fav) but how to make a good food choice. I ordered Meifun(chicken w/rice noodles). I just ate half but felt the guilt afterwards.

Any advice is helpful. :(

Have you had an adjustment yet? If not you'll physically be able to eat just about everything, no restriction, until you do.

I'm only about 8 days ahead of you on my band, and won't have my first fill until tomorrow. I can eat just about anything.. but not a lot of it.. right now I'm eating about half of what I ate pre-band in terms of volume. That may be because I'm forcing myself to eat a LOT slower than I used to.. but I definitely can't eat a lot at a time. My doctor only had me eating mushies for a few days and then told me to advance my diet.. he said that I would know soon enough if there was something I couldn't eat, and he was right. I've had food get stuck from eating too fast, but nothing that has made me throw up yet.. just hurt like hell until it went down. I'm pretty sure all this is about to change starting tomorrow when I go get "tightened up" as my brother calls it! lol For me the key seems to be eating sloooow!

I was banded 31st of Dec and yes, you do eat a lot less. I was throwing away food because I put too much on my plate which was hard to do because this fat girl had in her mind to eat everything on her plate. It took a while but I am finally just putting a spoonful of food on my plate and when it is gone, I am full. Down 55 lbs and I do not belong to the gym yet because of a bad foot at the moment. When I get exercising I am hoping to loose a lot more but I am happy with a pound a week right now. Eating too fast and that stuck feeling is very painful. First time it happened to me I thought I should go to the ER because it was such a different feeling but you get to know when it is going to happen and know enough to stop eating and get up and walk. Good luck to you and think skinny,

Judy

I always order steam chicken & veggies at chinese restaurants, with brown rice if they have it...no white rice!

I've been eating less than I did pre-band, but still a lot more than a cup. I just had my second fill today. I'm hopeful that now I will be eating less. Everyone I've talked to who has been successful with the band has said that sometimes it takes a few months to get the right amount of fluid into the band. I guess it's a learning curve and we just have to keep at it and try not to get frustrated until we find the right balance.

I typically have a protein shake with a banana and berries, then tuna sandwich with double protein bread and cheese, and a salad, fish, and something for desert. I snack on soy rice cakes. I am able to eat quite a bit so Its challenging to stop myself from eating. I still have pizza, stromboli, sandwichs and sweets. I always load up on protein. Always! Dont deprive yourself of the things you love - just try to eat clean most of the time.
