I have replied to several posts lately so some of you may recognize me. I have a questions for everyone who has already been banded. I am struggling with getting another fill or not. Heres my deal:

I am 39 and been banded 8 months now. I currently weigh 200 and Im a size 12. I started this process at 230 lbs and a size 18. Im a strong, healthy looking woman. I use to be a model in my 20's and so I put on almost 100 lbs. I look my best at a size 8. I paid 15K for this surgery hoping it would be the tool to help me get back to a comfortable size. I have been stuck at 200 for 3 months now and I dont know what to do.

I was filled pretty well but I was getting food stuck every single day and throwing up all the time. I went for 3 days throwing up my own saliva and couldnt get anything down. So I had my doc take a little fluid out. Since then...I have been able to eat whatever I want. I havent gained anything but I cant loose anything either. Before I found it VERy hard to get all my protein in and get enough cals. I do 1-2 hours of work out 5-6 days a week. I do the P90X series and walking/hills. So I burn 500-800 cals per day. I eat about 1500 cals a day now where before I could only eat about 800....BUT I WAS LOSING. Now, I enjoy my food and look forward to it. Am I eating more than I should? I have some treats every now and then but mostly I make good choices. I dont understand why this is SO hard. The doc says its simple science but I really dont think that it is.

Should I have another fill?????? I hate the thought of not being able to eat right and the possiblility of getting stuck all the time despite eating slowly and chewing..... or do I need to diet more?

Ive been struggling with this for months now and I need your advise PLEASE.

Maybe they can fill you somewhere in the middle. I am going through the same thing and have been banded now for 7 months. I feel like I am eating too much and foods I shouldn't be eating (breads). I fluctuate the same 4 pounds every month and feel like I'm dieting...without losing. I had a problem and they took some out. I think I am going to have them put a smidge back in. Good luck to you!

Maybe you should go back and have the doctor put a little more in. Not to the point where you are having problems. Going back to a cup per meal could get the scale moving again. Good luck to you!

Yikes, do I have a lot to learn. Any one remember Phen Fen? I didnt care about eating anymore back then. Food had no control over me any more. That is what I am hoping this surgery will do for me.... I want to be able to eat a food that I dont really care about that has the most bang for all the nutriants I need per meal & be done with it.... Has it worked like this for anyone that has already had this procedure done?

I'm with the above who is too tight, or nothing. I am 9 months in and lost 55 pounds. I have been stuck at the exact same number now for 13 weeks. Doesn't matter if I eat more or less, I neither gain nor lose. I've even started drinking wine on occasion and that doesn't do anything.

I've done a lot a lot of reseach. Funny but I'm finding out things I somehow never heard going into this. What I find is that I am the norm. The band is only good porportionatly. Many people will lose 40 - 60 pounds and the band then becomes a holder for which they can't get below. I'm really sad that I self funded this but learning to live with the decision and how I have to alter my life because of it. For me I still deal with hunger and cravings. Those never go away. I'm tighter in the morning and can only ever eat yogurt, as the day progresses I losen up and any and everything passes. I'm so tired of cottage cheese and yogurt. I think a mental portion of this is learning to live with the limitations.

Careful with putting back in. A nano adjustment for me can mean not even passing water, literally. It stinks!

How do you get all your protein and nutrients in with just 1 cup of food for each meal? I train very hard and I need about 100 grams of protein to build and maintain muscle. From what you guys are saying...maybe I should just go in and pay the $200 and have a little bit put back in. It scares me but I think I will have to if I want to lose more weight since diet and exercise just dont seem to work. Im really afraid of PMS time. As it is now I get super tight then...

Kelly, Sounds like you need a small fill, and yes, it's not always easy to get to the perfect spot and I'd suggest doing a little at a time this round so you're not back to too tight (some find even .1cc can make a difference). When I'm at my sweet spot I have no hunger at all between meals, but I can still eat everything (slowly, chewed to death). -BG
