I am still trying to slow down eating

It is not fun getting food stuck in your chest. Boy, does it hurt and it feels like I have to throw up. It only occurs when I am at work, where everything is rushed and I don't have ample time to eat like I should. So I have decided to split my meal in 2 breaks. Eat protein first and if I am still hungry, then eat my veggies on the next break. I am still struggling with being consistent with exercising.....I am trying to work out at least 4 times a weeks, but I find myself talking myself out of it and then I began to feel guilty. What to do, I say, what to do.

Don't talk yourself out of exercising....HA...how easy was that for me to type! It's so hard to committ and make time for yourself, but so important. I make it a part of my schedule 3 mornings a week and give myself some kind of reward if I go more...which I actually have been lately. The stuck in your chest feeling is probably the biggest downside to getting banded, I hate it. You are doing good by doing protein first! I hate the "I have to go to the lady's room NOW" feeling. That happens to me if I have any kind of milk product mixed with food when I go out so I have to be careful. Good luck & keep trying!!

It is so easy to find excuses to not exercise. I do all the time. I have the same problem with food. Here it is a year later and I still rush my food at times. Getting stuck or sliming is the WORST!! I pay the price often enough.

Me too... I was getting stuck almost every day until I had some fluid taken out. Now I can eat whatever I want but Im also not losing weight anymore. So frustrating. After many months of this I know there is really nothing that helps. At work, I would eat a high protien soup and all mushy foods. Then when I got home I would take as much time as I needed to get a meal down. I am so use to eating cold food now. So, having some fluid out and eating only soft food has kept me from getting stuck. We ALL have times when we talk ourselves out of working out. I love to workout and there are plenty of times when I just love to find something else to do instead of doing my work out. Its normal and nothing to feel guilty about. Just do an extra hard workout the next day. I think we all share many of the same struggles with this band. For me, its restriction vs. not getting sick. I cant seem to find a balance where I can eat without getting stuck AND still feel restriction. UGH.

That stuck feeling is the worse. My anxiety comes up and I can not talk and just keep taking deep breaths because if feels like I won't be able to breath. I scared myself and my husband. I would rather have the slimming because that tells me to stop eating...LOL I am taking one day at a time and so should you. good luck on your journey and I am one of the lucky ones that don't have to eat anyplace but home. Cause I am old and retired.

thanks for all the encouragement. I am going to the dr on Friday to discuss all the positives and negatives of having the lapband. I have to make a mental note and slowing with my eating, because getting foods stuck is no fun. Today, I will make an effort to exercise and not make any excuses. Try, Try, Try
