Hey has anyone else found that the Lap Band only works for a short time and then it stops working? I Lost about 65 pounds> I had the Lap Band done March 9th 2009. But now it seems that I have gained all the weight back. I just had a fill March 28th 2011 at the hospital under x-ray. Do I need another fill? Any suggestion will be appreciated greatly

Oh no. Thats scary. I have been banded 8 months and have only lost 30 lbs. Im expecting to lose 30 more but I havent lost anything in 2 months. I dont want to be filled tighter since it just causes thigns to get stuck and then Im sick all day. Ive heard people talk about the stomach being stretched out and allowing us to eat as much as we want..... could that be what has happened? Ive also heard people say they get all their fluid out and then 2 months later start the process over again after the stomach has gone back to its original shape.

WOW...I dont like hearing this.

I have been fairly successful with my band so I hate to hear that you are having trouble with yours. One thing that I have noticed is if you snack instead of eating your meals you can "trick" the band. I have been guilty of doing that myself on occasion and found that I was consuming lots of calories grazing all day. My goal is to keep it at 1 shake per day and 2 small meals. It the end I usually consume between 600-800 calories a day...

I am 1 year out this month and have lost 127 pounds. I still want to loose another 20 pounds. I am loving the band and have no regrets. Hang in there and hopefully you can make it work for you...

I am a newbee because I was just banded on 31st of December but found it is a mind game too. Yes, I have restriction and yes, I do get hungry pains but I find that I can only eat a little. I have lost 52 lbs as of today. Today is my weigh in day. So get that mind in set that you want to loose the weight and your band will work for you. They say drink lots of water, well not fo rme. I don't like water but with my shakes and soups I eat, I guess I am getting enough liquids. Set you mind to loose that weight and you sure will feel better. Good luck and hope this comment helps.

Shelli- I couldnt imagine getting 600 cals a day! I work out and burn about 700 per hour. When I was super restricted I lsot weight when I consumed little cals like that but I found I couldnt get over 60 grams of protein in. How do you do it? Im way too hungry to get that few of cals in...... BUT I also havent lost anything in 2 months. Please tell me more about what you do.

i am a grazer!! and i believe that is why i have not lost or gained any weight in almost 6 months!! i know i need to stop and do what has to be done... eat 3 square meals a day and drink my water...workout ofcourse.

I have been banded since SEPT 2009 and have lost 50lbs.....still have 50 lbs to go, so i dont see it as my band failing i see it as sabotaging myself by tricking my band .

Good luck

First time here :-) I was banded 11/2008. Lost 40 Lbs and have gained 35 lbs back. I just got adjusted last month and for the first time in over 2 years I finally feel good restriction. I was able to eat everything and anything. Now I can't really, Lost 10 lbs the first week and now I have stopped losing. Now sure what to do next.....

I was banded 9/17/10. I lost 80 pounds. I have gained 50 back. Once I realized I wasn't losing any weight I hired a trainer and I worked out vigorously. I got another fill and I worked. I lost about 10 pounds the whole year. I got gastritis because my band was too tight. I finally loosened the band and gained the rest of the weight back. I feel fat, and like a failure. I have PCOS and should have gotten gastric. My new doctor now recommends gastric but I want to have a baby and I know that if I do get gastric I would have to wait minimum two years to even try. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I do think that I have wasted my time with the band. I'm sad.
