On March 26, 2011, I went to have a routine eye exam. Well, it has turned into more than an damn eye exam. I was given a referral to a neurologist because my optic nerves are inflammed. My appointment was on April 5, 2011. Well, after meeting with Dr. Epperson in Montgomery, Alabama he decided that I needed to have a spinal tap and MRI done. WEll, the MRI was normal. The spinal tap was negative for what ever he tested it for who the hell knows.. Well, I have done those test now he is wanting to do a visual test. I have no clue what the hell that consists of or how much is going to cost. Either you know what the hell is wrong or you don't.

I have seasonal allergies just like the majority of the people who live in the south.. So, I assume that my headaches which are occassionally nothing that sends me to bed or the emergency room were normal. Well, I really just don't get whats going on.. I soo freaking aggervated, confused and to the point where I want to scream..

I have the same problem! I have pseudo tumor cerebri. The body responds as if you have a tumor in your brain and you gain an excessive amount of spinal fluid even though there is nothing there. Because of the excessive spinal fluid it causes the optic nerve to be swollen. I had the MRI and a CAT scan which showed nothing. They did the lumbar puncture (worse pain ever!!!!!!!) and the fluid was perfectly clear. They put me on Diamox (an anti diuretic) to reduce the amount of fluid back in October. I take it twice a day and I rarely get pressure headaches. I just had a follow up with the neurologist last week and he said that it appears there hasnt been any improvement but my pressure levels are staying steady so I guess that is good. He says that weight loss should improve it so I'm really hoping to see some drastic improvements in the next couple of months. Are you having trouble with your vision such as occasional blurriness? Most people experience it in both eyes but for some reason I'm weird and it's only in one. If it's left untreated though your vision will continue to get worse and you could lose your vision altogether. Let me know if you have any questions. I feel your pain (literally) and I'm sorry you are going through this but I'm glad I've found someone else with a similar situation since it is so rare. Hope you start feeling better!
