Hello, well I started this journey in November 2010 and three weeks ago everything was complete and submitted to the insurance company for approval..they just came back with approval for the lap band as outpatient. They say it is not a medical necessity to stay overnight in the hospital. My surgeon's office is appealing. My Dr. will not do it as outpatient. Has this happened to anyone? Any suggestions of what I can do to help speed up the decision?

I was home within hours of surgery. I think total from start of surgery till release was 4 hours. They say we heal better in our own homes.

I am diabetic and had surgery outpatient. I was in at 8am and home by noon. I had no probelms. If insurance won't approve I sugest finding another surgeon since you already approved.

I had to stay overnight but I was glad I did. I got much needed rest. And I let the nurse wait on me all day and night. It was nice. lol :)
