Things I should have bopught for myself prior to surgery; scale, blender, dishes, food scale, hobby ...

Let me explaine the reasons why. First the scale the thousand resons why here. I have been using my wii fit which would drastically change through out the day and have me at the brink of tears. And yes I should only be weighing in the morning but lets be honest most people pre op that I have taked to weight often through the day to see the changes in their body weight I like to see the changes in myself good or bad.

Second is the blendar, omg protein shakes are gross if you dont have a blender. And right now Thomas can not live on chicken broth alone. Getting your protein is vital post op, so for those of you don't go into surgery without a kick ass blender!

Third dishes, nothing sucks more than popping four ounces of liquid into a giant glass. I don't care how full your stomach is thats not going to make your mind happy. And lets face it we fixed the stomach here but not the mind. Something I am discovering since I lost the interest in food. Is some how retraining the brain mine has been going on and on only at meals like, "Really, this is it?" Although I am not hungrey my brain at meals works on overdrive to some how sabatoge me. Of course then something kicks in that says I really don't need this and then I can barely eat anything.

Fourth food scale, everyone measures things differently, and you want to track your callories without losing your mind the food scale is the way to go here. Nothing is easier than poping your plate or bowl on a food scale, zeroing it out, slidding it ounces and adding 4 oz which is your meal is.

I never expected I'd be so bored... find something you can do on your ass period.

So as of totay my total weight loss 17 lbs in 7 days, and feeling great.

Yes you are right. I have switched to smaller child size plates, cups, and some others have even used child sized utensils. It is less frustrating. And it does make your mind feel like you are eating more if your child size plate is full rather than your adult size plate almost bare. lol. I also purchased a rocket type blender which is small but powerful. It has a small container that is just the right size for the shakes and when you only want to blend up small amts. of food. Less work cleaning it up too. You are right about needing a hobby. The busier you keep yourself, the less time you have to think about food and being hungry. And exercise is def a must. Whether it be a walk outside around the neighborhood or whatever. It helps to clear your mind too. The only advice I would give you - is to not weigh yourself so much. It can become addicting. It is best to weigh yourself once a wk. at the same day and time if you can. It will be hard at first, but once you get used to it, you will be less frustrated. And it keeps you excited wondering just how much you lost. Good luck to you. :)

I forgot to tell you that when you get bored, maybe check out Lapband.com by Emmi systems. It is a wonderful website that you can write yourself daily journals and print them out to keep track of your lapband journey. You could even print them out and make yourself a book on your journey. It also tracks your wt. loss with a ticker, and food journeys, mood tracks, exercise, loads of recipes, support, and videos to watch of your band journey. It is wonderful. Check it out. :)

Oh so true regarding the body-mind gap! It took me months to really mentally accept that I don't actually need to eat more than my stomach was allowing me. I mean, it's not like I didn't consciously know that fact, but, emotionally, I kept feeling justified in eating a few bites more. Great post!

I actually bought the one cup serving size glass bowls from wal-mart. 4 for eight bucks, I can't melt them, or stain them. I bought a larger blender and just cap off and put in fridge for later. It's easier and les clean up. Plus I bought a pretty glass just my size, makes the shakes nicer.<BR>

ice in the shake along with the milk and powder..........ice makes it nice and cold yummy, just had a strawberry one and instead of using ice, I used frozen strawberrys/no sugar/ with milk and the powder. I am stuffed................could not eat another thing.
