Stuck. HELP!

Is been 5 months and 3 fills. Today I ate one bit of a cheeseburger ( no bun) and felt that it got a little stuck so I stopped eating and waited for it to pass the way it always does. It hasnt passed. Now, 6 hours later, I cant even keep my own saliva down. I throw up every 10 minutes ( just my saliva). I tried drinking hot water and it came up. I feel a pressure in my chest and its uncomfortable. Im so worried that my band has slipped. Ive thrown up before but that would usually resolve the feeling. This has gone on way too long. Does anyone know how to tell if the band HAS slipped? I plan on calling the doc in the morning but Im really worried and uncomfortable now. Please help if you can.

OMG, you poor thing. I had that feeling last night also. I stuffed two Ritz crackers in my mouth and forgot to chew them and wow for 20 mins I had that awful feeling and scared my husband to death. I did the same thing with no spit going down. I even thought if I could just throw up I would be better but then finally it went away just as fast as it came. 6 hours, you poor thing. I know the pain but NOT for 6 hours. Please, let me know how you made out. My surgery was the 31st and have had 3.5 cc put in there all together and after last night I think I am in my green zone. I have the gurgling sound just eating yogurt to get my meds down. It is 5:30 in the morning and I hope your pain has gone.

I threw up many times last night, I could barely sleep. Called the doc first thing this morn and he thinks I just had food stuck. He assured me everything that I was experiencing was a food blockage and then being swollen. He said if the band slipped that I would know it because it is VERY painful. I was very uncomfortable but I cant say I was in PAIN. He said if I can get fluids down today I should be fine. Liquids today then soft foods tomorrow. Wow, that was very scary!

I did not want to go to the ER because I know there isnt anything they can do. I dont think they even have the needles to take some fluid out. Now, if I was in severe pain I would have gone. Also, I dont think my insurance would cover any of that. I paid for the surgery myself because it was denied. Im in no position to pay ER bills.

I should be ok. Im having some hot tea now and all seems to be well. Just know, bandsters, that it only takes one bite of food to cause this and dont be afraid that the band has slipped unless you have real pain, not discomfort. I was planning on getting my 4th fill in few weeks but after this... I think Ill just stick to what I have. The weight is coming off, just very slowly. I lose about a pound a week. Thats fine. Its not worth these episodes just to lose weight quicker.

Thank you for your support.

That doesn't sound fun at all. I had something similar happen to me and I swore I had slipped but it turns out that I had bad drainage. Doc took out 0.5 of a cc and it was magic!

Ive been staying on liquids so I decided to have some thin pea soup. Took 2 sips and now Im stuck again. I keep throwing up like last night only its not as bad. I dont get it. This has just happed all of a sudden. I think I must be swollen and irritated in my stomach now so I guess its just being really finicky. I havent had a fill recently so I know that is not the problem. I cancelled my 4th fill. I hate to have some fluid taken out of my band. The weight loss has been soooo slow as it is. WOW... for those who say this "cheating" or "taking the easy way"...I think not!!

You poor thing. I cannot believe that thin pea soup is getting stuck. When did you have your surgery? And your right, this is not the easy way out. Some people are just stupid. I hope your evening gets better as the night goes on. Judy

Have you gone to doc yet? Do that first if you can and you will probably want to get an upper GI which will confirm your slip. If it has and it's early enough, an unfill might do the trick...hang in there...good luck!
