I'm nervous and scared of the upcoming surgery. In my mind I compose beautiful letters to my loved one in the event that I don't make it through surgery, something to let them know how very much they mean to me. I cry just thinking about it and that's when I know I'm really scared. I know that I am trying to make a change so I will be there when they grow up and with my health problems I might not make it without this help. Well I am at 4 days and a wake up for surgery so wish me luck!

I think most of us are afraid of surgery. However, I can say that it was the best thing that I have ever done. I am now 7 months out and down 60 lbs. I knew this surgery would take longer than gastric. However, it was the right surgery. I have found that I enjoy the time to learn as I go along. It has been a journey for me relearning my relationship with food. However. one that has been well worth it! You are almost there....ready to begin work on the "new" you. :)

Good luck to you on your surgery. I know the scared feeling all to well. I had my surgery 2/24/11 everything went great. The only thing was i had hiatal herniathat they repaired with it the lapband. So surgery took a little longer. It was no problem! Things are going great so far and ive lost 11lbs since the day of surgery. Well good luck again. I hope to keep up with you and your progress.

Did you know that you had the hernia before surgery? I have lost 7 lbs since my consultation appointment and I just got a call from the hospital to go over my medical history. I just wish my husband would say something, anything about this process at all but he is totally closed mouthed. My older son is really worried aboutme, since he is a teenager that is pretty remartkable! LOL. Thank you to both of you for the encouragement and reasurance.

The most I can say is I love my band and I am a new and healthier person today. Follow all the rules and keep up with all of the appointments. Keep blogging it help get the weight off. Yep - I was very afraid too. But here I am. I know it is difficult, but consentrate on the good that will come of this after surgery and keep a smile in your heart because you are making your life a better one, for not only you, but your family as well. Good Luck!!!

I thought I was the only one... I wrote letters to every important person in my life before my back surgery. I have two daughters and I wanted them to know that I love them more than life. I wanted my family to understand that if something happened to me, that it was my choice. I wanted to be healthy and be around for a long time but God had other plans for me. Thankfully, when I woke up in recovery (full on crying and tears BTW) - I had no reason for them to read my letters. There I was, awake and alive!!! Pain, yes but alive!!! You will be fine. I will keep you in my prayers for a safe surgery and quick recovery!!! :)

Day Dreamer,

I woke up crying full on tears as well, and then I was ok so I started laughing. Still in pain, the gas is horrid. I think the rest is gonna be fine I just gotta walk walk walk. Thanks for your prayers and words! And good luck with your weight loss as well.
