I was banded November 18,2010. I haven't had much success with the band. I started out at 259 and I am only down to 247. I have become addicted to the scale. I wieght first thing when, before I eat, after I eat, before I shower, & after. I haven't felt any type of restriction. After surgery I lost 12 lbs but gained two after first fill. I went back to doctor Monday and only lost 2lbs after 2nd fill. The doctor didn't give me a third fill but schuduled me to go to hopital to do the test like after surgery where you drink that stuff. ( I can't think of the correct term.) He said he will fill me then but wanted to see excactly how big my passage to stomach is so he don't over fill. I am so ready to start losing. I have felt like a failure not losing weight after surgery. I work out and try my best at the diet but the scale stays the same. It's depressing reading all the blogs about peoples success when I am struggling. :(

I AM SO SORRY :( I WAS JUST BANDED ON THE 25TH OF FEB.... KEEP ME POSTED ON WHAT YOUR DOCTOR SAYS. I HOPE EVERYTHING IS OK. I THINK YOU WILL START LOSING SOON. MY DOCTOR WONT EVEN GIVE ME ONE FILL TILL 9 WEEKS AND MY BAND IS COMPLETELY EMPTY! WHAT TYPES OF FOOD ARE YOU EATING AND DO YOU HAVE ANY TROUBLE WITH IT GOING DOWN?

Don't worry, I didn't start to get good restriction until my 3rd fill. Perfect restriction came on my 4th. I was banded September 30th and just got that restriction a few weeks ago. Good luck and you will start to really lose soon. You are officially in "bandster hell"---the time between surgery and really losing. It WILL happen, though :-)

I was banded on December 17, 2010. I just had my second fill this past Saturday. Before surgery I lost 25 pounds and after surgery I've lost 15 pounds. I'm seeing inches come off more than pounds because I'm down two sizes from what I was wearing! I have found if I get all my protein in the weight comes off easier than if I don't eat the correct amount of protein. I've not had the good restriction, but I've been careful to eat only 3 meals a day and no snacking! I do have problems with eating breaded anything! I'm from Texas where chicken fried steak rules so it has been hard to not eat the breading! Pizza's are history too as are most bread if it's not toasted.

Try not to be discouraged the weight will come off it's better to loose it slowly than all at once anyway!

Good Luck and don't be so hard on yourself! :)

I didn't get my first fill until 9 weeks either. I usually do a protien shake for breakfest, sugar free pudding or jello for a morning snack, lunch is just grilled chicken salad, & dinner is just your normal, meat & veggie. I haven't had any restriction. I can eat anything in everything.

Always remember every single person's body does not respond the same way with this band. Don't weigh yourself so often because it can be discouraging. Pay more attention to the inches lost and not the numbers on your scale. You should try to drink lots of water, get your protein in, and keep moving as much as possible. You can get a work out in alot of different ways so just keep it moving and don't stress out. That alone is very harsh on the body. Good luck.

Like everyone else was saying... most of us dont get good restriction until the 3rd and 4th fill. I have been banded over 5 months and I have only lost 25 lbs. During the first 2 fills I only lost 10 lbs. I work out hard but I know I was eating too much and even now, some days, I eat more than I should because I dont feel restricion. Im looking forward to the 4th fill. Im certain that will enable me to get to where I want to be. Dont get discouraged. MANY of us have had VERY slow weight loss. I blogged about it a lot. Yes, we see a lot of people talk about losing big numbers the first few months and seeing that was very discouraging to mee too. But the truth is.... you WILL see a change by the 4th fill.

Don't get discouraged! I was banded June 25, 2010 - I've just reached 40lbs. I'm at 6cc in a 10cc band. We are all different and I couldn't understand why some people would lose 40-60 after 3-4 mos but I keep telling myself 3/4pds per month will be 48pds a yr and that's a lot better than gaining! I have good restrictions and I'm able to eat most anything I want. Yes I could get tighter but as long as I'm losing and still eat good why? One of my friends had the band before me and she is very tight and can't eat a thing but want go and have any removed! Why would you not want to be able to eat! Just remember, each pound adds up.

get off the SCALE!! get it out of your sight....

I have been banded for 17 months and have lost 50lbs... most of it int he first 11 months. I have had 7 fills and just know i am feeling restriction. It comes and goes so i have to be carefull. i KNOW i still eat to much.... not when i sit down at a meal but during the day when my kids are constantly askinf for snacks..i have them too.

I do not blame the Band for the lack of weight loss since Oct 2010. I have not worked out as much as i should and i have chosen food that will pass easily.

I weigh myslef once a week (tues) and then i put it away...I also guide myself more with how my clothes fit me. My goal is to be a comfortable size 14... I am now a tight size 18. I am realistic about my body. it did take me 10 years to gain 100 lbs, why should i expect to loose it in less that 2-3 years!

Good luck and just take it easy..we will all get there!!

Boy can I relate.... I was banded January 11th. I loss 11 pounds in the first 4 days.. But I was miserable I couldn't get down water I was so tight. Had 4 cc taken out and still had some food getting hung. I dont understand yet what people are talking about restriction is this food getting hung and wont go down?? I'm only down 19 lbs as of today. I also started at 260 and weigh between 239 and 241. I did get a fill of 4 cc on 2/22/2011. Seems like alot but my doctor said I had some air in my band about 2 cc and that is why he gave me 4 cc. I have good days and bad. Some days everything gets hung. Again is that the restriction?? I constantly weigh but starting this week. I'm going to 1 day a week and see if that makes a differences in my outlook.

The weight loss has been very slow for me too. I have only lost 22 lbs. since I was banded Nov. 5th. Most of it was before surgery when i was on the liquid diet. I get a 4th fill today so I am hoping that will restrict me even more. I have been careful what I eat and eat only 3 meals per day. If I do have a snack, I try to eat something high in protein. Weight Watchers cheese sticks are 6 gr. protein per stick. I sure do get depressed too, especially when I see people losing 10 and 12 pounds per month. I am luck if I lose 3 pounds per month. Oh well, I keep reading everyone is different and everyone's surgeon is different as to how they fill you, so I must take that into consideration and try, try and try to think positive. I have been sick for the past 3 days now running a low grade temp, so I am not working out and my body can feel it. I am so tired, so all I have been doing now is drinking lots of liquids and sleeping a lot. Take care and best wishes to you. I do feel your pain.

I was also banded on November 18. My starting weight was 206 and with my liquid diet I lost weight fast.....40 pounds but in the last three months I actually gained a pound which is VERY depressing. for a couple of months I could eat anything and everything...last month I went for another fill and finally I have the restriction that I need. i am back on track.....exercise, no snacking, getting my water in. This month I still have not lost any weight but feel so much better about myself. Dont beat your self up....it will work if you make it work!!!
