Don't be so hard on yourself.. it's about a lifestyle for ever change.. not a true diet. 8 pieces of chex mix is NOTHING... you could have "cheated" with alot worse things that that... rejoice in the fabulous job you're doing!

Good thing you owned it! NOW LET IT GO! This is not a diet. It never will be once you are banded you will need to eat to keep yourself alive so make choices to ensure health. This is a new way of life and it is all about the choices you make. I would have also beaten myself up. This is life and in real life we need to eat. Food of all kinds. It may have been an emotional handful of whatever. It is still life. We all need to learn how to deal with whatever comes our way. I was banded on June 29, 2009. My journey has been successful. I have keep off 110 pounds and I try to make healthy choices. I have learned it is how I think about the food I eat and the choices I make. I think a lot about the food I put into my mouth before it gets there. I have been know to send food back and change my mind. After a while you will know what and how much you can eat of something. Keeping the emotional aspect of food under control was always harder for me. I am and always will be an emotional eater. Best wishes on your journey. imaluckydog

Hi Amy,

Hey it's okay. I lost it yesterday and I cheated, but it was much worse than what you ate!!!! So you know what, I got up today and stepped on the scale and saw that I was up a pound after loosing 12 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks. ( BTW, I have my first post operative appt tomorrow to get my staples out). That gave me the incentive to eat what I am supposed to and I stuck to it today.

When I was thin without the band, that is how I approached eating and life. When I had a bad day and needed that treat. I ate it for one meal only. You can bet the next day I got back on the right road and then I weighed my self the following day. It is about balance. Don't beat yourself up. Journal what took you to the point. Its okay for today, just get back up, dust yourself off and get back on the horse. Just learn from it. Awareness is the key to success.

You didn't "CHEAT" because this is a lifestyle change, not a diet plan. My doctor always says if you crave something, every once in a while it is ok to give into to it. I beat myself up over a crouton! But after speaking with the doctor, I figured out what I needed to do to remain shooting towards my goal weight and have been very successful. As long as what you did doesn't become a habit, forget it and move on. We have all been there. Look forward, not behind and good luck to you.
