Surgery was Tuesday. I have to admit for me the pain was rough. Walking does make it better. I did have a Hiatal Hernia that the doctor fixed so maybe that is some of the pain. I find that I'm having a hard time drinking. Liquids just kind of sit there and gurgles for a few minutes. Then the pain comes, gas I think if I belch which is hard that makes pain go away. I tried a popsicle and that goes down alot better. Any suggestions?

The gurgling always cracks me up and I hope that others can't hear it. I found out sometimes they do. LOL!! You are fresh from surgery so there is swelling and tightness. It will ease up as the swelling goes down. When you get fills it will probably do that again. I know mine does. Try the GASX strips for the gas pain. I also found a heating pad was my friend for back/shoulder pain or just to lay on my stomach. It was soothing.

I had a hiatal hernia fixed at the same time as well so the extra pain is normal. Warm liquids are good. This is what my surgeon's office told me. They said cold stuff actually restricts while the warm liquids relaxes your esophagus and the opening. I thought it sounded silly but it's true for me. I drink hot cider 15 min before a meal and the food goes down easier. Hot liquids may do down easier since you have some swelling. Good luck!

I had surgery 8 months ago. My blog is http://anglovato.blogspot.com/ if you would like to visit and read about my early days. Any questions feel free to send me an email. I would be happy to help you through this.

Thanks for the advice. I did have to break down and call the doctor again today. He met me in the office on a Sunday which is hard to believe... My band was way to tight, he took out 4 cc of my 10 cc band. When they but the band on I thought it was empty for a 6 weeks but Dr. T told me that he always add a little but that was a lot... He was a little shocked that he got out 4 cc and he said that there was probably more. Well since then I have been able to drink water and broth and no pain (yohoo). One good thing I learned is that the fills aren't bad ad all and not to get a fill late in the week. I was not the only patient he was seeing on a Sunday there was also someone that had been banded for a year that had a fill on friday and not able to eat anything without major pain.
