I have been on this site for a few days now and have talked to a few people and everyone has a diff story- My biggest concern is me being alone- Do I really need someone here or can I do this on my own- I should be having my surgery end of Jan God wiling... Should I start liquid diet soon- Have had only 1 visit with surgeon but been every place else- phych dr-pulmanologis-sleep clinic- and next week nutritionist. I watched a lap band surgery on U Tube which didn't seem to bother me-quite interesting.. Any help would be appreciated. Carol

I have the same problem. I have been told so many different things and what I read is also different. My husband and I will both be banded 1/11/2011... We started the liquid diet today 1/3/2011 just to get a start on weight loss and to cut back on the things we will have to give up for a few months (coffee, soda's etc.). Our physician said it was up to us on wether we do the liquid diet before. Dr. Trahan usually doesn't require this unless you are over 50 bmi which neither of us are. This is just day 1 so hope we both can continue the liquid boost Hi protein during the day and a sensible dinner at night for 8 days...:o

Everyone's story and journey is different. I suggest following the doctors advice. Each doctor has their own preferences and they also know your medical history.I know those of us on this site share our experiences with one another and provide support when needed. It is not always an easy journey but one that is well worth the time and effort. I have found this site to provide me with so much support and new friendships from afar. This site is not for medical advice as much as it is for someone to help you gain perspective when things are difficult or to celebrate the victories/accomplishment of fellow readers. I find both very helpful. This journey is about you...you are off to a good start in recognizing that! Good luck on your journey!:)

My band was put in on Friday and today, Tuesday I feel great and don't need any help. When I first came home, I really needed help putting my socks on and could not move fast but could move, just very slowly so if I was here alone I could have done it all (except for the socks). Just my husband thought I was doing stuff too slow............LOL Get the band and don't worry about being alone. You will probably heal faster being you have to do things yourself.

As far as the liquid diet, I never did that until after the surgery which was very easy to do because all that I have gone thru to get banded, I will never put that bad stuff in my stomach again...well, for a long time from now. Good luck to ya,

Judy
