Just finished my visit with a pulmanologist and found that I have sleep apnea-need to go do a sleep study night at hospital before they can schedule my surgery- I am very nervous and excited all the time-I just want to get started but I am scared about the surgery and after- my husband won't be here so I will be alone and don't know if I need to hire someone to take care of me or not. Anyhhelp or advise would be greatly appreciated...

Thank you for the entry on my blog and that sleep thing was a breeze so don't worry about it. I stressed over it also and then laughed at myself after it was over with. I am sorry your husband is not with you but you are doing this for yourself, not anyone else. I have only told a few people and wished I just kept it to myself but too late. I am excited and scared too because you hear of so many bad stories but I don't look at them, I like reading the good stories. Take care and I will blog on how I make out tomorrow. Judy

I don't know about everyone, but I needed someone to help me for a few days after surgery. Not all day long, but often enough. I was in pain and couldn't move without help. Maybe if you have a friend of family member who can check on you? Or a neighbor? Someone who can come a few times a day to make sure you are ok and refill ice and water and stuff, and help you to the restroom.

I came home to a husband and four kids. But I had gotten my pain meds early and stocked up the house for myself. My husband did drive the kids to school for a few days. I did need a ride home from the hospital. but besides that I was on my own. I did have a little hard time getting out of my bed. at night but I would put pressure on my incisions and just kind of roll over. it was all fine. i thil you will be ok on your own. just prepare for the next 3 or 4 days with liquids jello and don't forget your pain medication. Take it as prescribed. My Aunt is a nurse. She has always told me to take it even if I don' feel I need it so the pain cycle won't start. So good luck. You will love the band. I have lost almost 40 pounds in 3 months. I love it..
