I want to apologize in advance to anyone who actually reads this blog; All I ever blog about is how frustrated and impatient I am. And here it goes again...

Here it is DECEMBER. I began researching the lab band in early 2009 and decided in April of this year to pursue the program. I attended a seminar in May and was denied in July and immediately began a different program at a more local hospital. I started taking nutrition classes in August, though I'm not sure that the initial nutrition class counts towards the six months, I have been attending one nutrition visit a month. In November, I missed my appointment due to my work and school schedule being so busy. When I went to my visit just this last week the dietician said the insurance company may deny me because they might want me to have six months of consecutive visits. Missing November just might screw me. If that were the case I would have to wait until MAY for submission to the insurance company... and if that is indeed true, I will cry. I will entirely lose it.

I am so discouraged and frustrated at this point... I have limited my calorie intake to 1100-1300 a day and do the elliptical trainer at least twice a week for 15 minutes (which I know is not much), and I haven't lost a single pound. In fact, I have gained four pounds since I began this process back in July. I just don't know what more I can do right now... and my dietician is concerned - she is starting to feel that if I can't lose weight now, I won't be able to with the band, which I do understand. I feel like its so hard for me to work for something right now, that is seemingly just not going to happen, and if I have the band - the tool I need - I can and WILL work harder to get this weight off. I just can't take it anymore!

If missing November doesn't matter to my insurance company and the first class in August counts, February would be my last visit. I have completed all the pre-op testing and just need this last piece... come on! The months are flying by, but the weight is going nowhere.. My joints are killing me and I am beginning to get depressed. I scan through pages on this website a couple times a week, and I just get so excited for the future when I see the great progress SO many people have made. I KNOW that I will put my heart and soul into it once I am banded. I am just so ready. I never thought it would take this long...

Hang in there sweety! I feel your frustration, I totally do. Please, please, please be patient. Go through all the steps you need to and you WILL get there! This truly is a life changing operation and if it means you have to wait a few months, then its just a few months compared to years of not having anything!

Frustration is really an awful thing- and I am so sorry that you are having so much of it! I am also pre-banded, but have learned a few tricks to help me to lose a little weight before the process--

-no drinks at all when you eat- it just washes your food down and the digestion process starts quicker (even without a band!)

-walk 2 miles a day (or as often as possible!) it really is better than doing the elliptical- once you reach the two miles your body then stops triggering the wrong sources of energy within your body and starts to trigger fat

hang in there girl, things will work out!!!

Ask if you can have a private session, I know that was allowed if you couldn't make the regular meetings. Granted, you'd have to pay for that but at least it will count. Also, your PCP may also help with the evaluation she has to send too, make sure she documents your struggle with getting the weight off that helps. I didn't lose a single pound during my process and actually gained 2 lbs (I only had to do a 3 month process) Anyway, my insurance approved my surgery and I was even missing 1 appt. with my PCP. So just hang in there, sweetie. And by the way, I didn't lose during the pre-surgery phase but I'm now 5 days post-op and I'm down 13 lbs. You will lose weight.......keep your head up and things will get better!!!!!!! Keep us posted....:)

Hi there Pinkfisk,I am going through the same as you I am pre-surgery,I am going through the 6 month diet with my doctor(pcp)and just think I only have 1 month under my belt,I have a long way to go,I havn't went for my 1st appointment yet and dont even know if I'll be approved yet,my process havent even began ,so you are good, just go to your PCP and give the doctor the form and ask him to fill it out for november, they have your records and know your weight progress and he or she still may fill it out anyway, the old saying is (nuthin beats a failure but a try) so give it a try all they can say is no,or they mayeven do it for you.I'm just waiting,I finally have my first appt on Jan 10th so for me starting a new year as a new person I look at it as if I was given a lil more time to be me until I really have to do what need to be done...so go for it and goodluck.....
