I'm almost 2 weeks post -op and have (or I thought) very little restriction...I had dinner tonight and was able to eat 2 tacos (not like my usual 4-5 pre band)...But, still more then I want to be eating. I'm guessing I need a fill. About 4 hours later I went back for some of the leftover beef (x-lean)...NOW I'm dying - I feel SOOO overfull, my tumy hurts, gas, pain going in my chest - OUCH! Why did I do that...Any suggestions on easing this??? I don't want to throw up incase my band slips...So I'm here typing away in hopes to going back to bed...It's 12:10am and I need to sleep (work in the morning).

Is this bandster hell? I'm learning, and I will never overeat again...I will eat slower...Please pain go away!

Bandster hell is the hunger period before your first fill. DON'T try to wash the food down by drinking. It will backup just like a clogged pipe. I use to lay down. Not much else you can do. You feeling of fullness will be much faster and very differnt from before. It took me awhile to realize what the feeling was. Eat slowly and you will notice the feeling and learn to look for it. If you start feeling alot of saliva being produced better get in the bathroom.

Yes this is Bandster hell!!! Lots of self control...You have to follow and your Dr's instructions and try not to eat more than a cup of food depending on your stage. I wasn't able to eat any solids for 4 weeks. If you want to be successful you will need to sacrifice, but trust me...it will all be worth it!:)

Hopee, I know exactly how you feel... I am four weeks post-op and I haven't been filled. I started eating regular foods the end of my the first week of my post-op and been eating since. I am praying that once I get my first fill, this will change. I have been eating almost as much as I did without the band and yes, I feel guilty but this is why I wanted the band, I need help with hunger control and right now, I don't have it. I have even gained weight. I get my first fill one week from today and so far I am I haven't gotten sick from eating but, I have been eating alot more than what I should. I hope all goes well for you don't give up. I too am keeping my hopes up that after the fill, I will begin my weight loss.

Portion control is very important. I never eat more than 3/4 cup at mealtimes. 1/2 hr. later if I still feel hungry - I can have 8 oz crystal lite drink or whatever to fill me. It seems to work. I stay satisfied. The more liquid you drink - the less hungry you will feel. Good luck and I hope it gets easier for you. p.s. - I know what ya mean by the pain when overeating though - my first meal this wk. I had scrambled eggs and didn't chew enough. Well I got spasms like you wouldn't believe! I learned my lesson. Chew chew and chew. And take 20 min. to eat your meals.
