I don't understand why no one ever comments people back on this blog? I have a question about my port still being sore after 8 weeks. But if i post it no one will comment to help me out anyways. Does anyone feel like i do?

Hi Julie,

I am a little worried myself about my port. It's been 6 weeks for me and I still have twinges and soreness. I am afraid that when they release me to exercise, I still won't be able to do sit-ups because of it. At my two week check-up they said it was sore because of the muscle attachment. I've heard others say the same thing you are, though.

I would check with your doctor. I am going to at my fill appointment this week. I have a Realize band. I'm wondering if my soreness is because of the contraption they use to attach it. The lap band is sutured. The Realize band has some kind of clamp looking thing.

I also saw that someone thought maybe their's had been placed on a nerve and that was making it hurt. I feel your pain, (literally) but I don't know what makes it hurt.

Mine is getting less painful, though. Is yours?

I am only into 3 days being banded, so I am still sore everywhere. I wish I could help you. I think we all will have the same concern as you. It is painful, but right now for me, it's painful everywhere. People have been saying things about the specific band they had inserted. I have no idea what kind of band I have, nor do I know how the port has been attached. I guess I should know. I feel a little dumb that I don't. From friends having this done, they have said it takes months for everything to heal properly. I wish you well and if you get this taken care of, please post back again and let us know. Best wishes to you.

I had my banding on 11/4 and came home on 11/5. Don't have the pain I thought I would have, more like a soreness from doing too many sit ups. Not really hungry and have to remember to get everything in that I need. My doctor says that for the first week liquids are more important than the protein - after that the protein will count big time. Made the mistake of getting on the scale when I got home from the hospital and saw that I had gained 12 pounds from all of the IVs! By this morning it was miraculously gone (loved it even though I know it's not a real loss. Really nice being waited on. Wonder how long I can milk this???? LOL Never thought I would look forward to cream of wheat - soooooo good.

Hello juliecook people comment a lot here if they have a answer to a question. Or feel comfortable to give a suggestion. It maybe that when you are posting there maybe some that are new to the lap-band also. So for me I never had pain or a problem with my "port" am into to this Lap-Band now for about 1 year as of October 26th 2010. Some months I will have a little soreness but nothing to talk about. But if you are having lots of pain or soreness or any question about your port call you Dr. office talk to your NP, or your surgeon am sure they will help you. It maybe that you still need time to heal. Everyone is different. Am sure you will fine this blog very helpful in your journey. You will fine some wonderful people here and great inspiration, maybe some new friends as well. Looking forward to hearing how it all goes for you.. ALL THE BEST TO YOU..

I hope it goes well for you! I understand your frustration with no responses to your original blog -- I agree with the previous posts. Its hard to comment on something if you haven't had experience or any exposure to the specific item.

We all seem to have different experiences, victories and frustrations. Hopefully things go a bit smoother for you. I wish you all the best as you move forward!
