Three more days before Pre-OP

So here I am... three more days of eating before pre-op. I've been thinking about all the foods that I want to eat and then forget about for a very long time. All these foods got me to where I am today. My relationship with food needs to change. My lapband will provide the tool to aid me in losing weight. I have to be disciplined and ready - and I am!

What is scaring me are some of the blogs and feeds that I am reading about the pain following surgery. Does the incision where the port is really hurt? Will I be able to get to sleep at night? (Hello drugs!!!) How much gas is there really? The other thing that scares me is climbing the walls during post op and not having anything to eat for the week thereafter. But then I turn it around and hear that it's all worth the pain of a few weeks to be down a dress size and/or more. Seems that most are losing quite a bit of weight between the preop and postop 1 week.

Any feedback? Greatly appreciate it. My band date is November 22nd:smile:

Hi there. I was banded about 7 weeks ago. I have lost 30 lbs. the first week it was 15. After the surgery I was sore where my port was. I couldn't even feel the other ones. I did take my pain medication every 4 hours so that really helped. I didn't stay in the hospital. They did mine day surgery. After about three weeks after surgery my hunger returned. And you would not believe what i could eat. I went in for a fill and that helped a little but i am going back in 2 weeks for another. I wish I did this 10 years ago. So good luck and no worries:)

Hello there. I am day three out. I have not had a ton of pain, in fact I got out of surgery at 10:30, woke up at 11:30 am and didn't take meds until 8:30pm that evening. After that it was every 6 hours or so. It was sore in the way that one would get if you have a really bad cough for a week, that soreness in the muscles, or you do a ton of stomach crunches and you are achey to move. The pain is really not terrible. Check out my blog and read the status a little.

I don't want to eat right now, so don't think that will be a huge problem. My doctor said if in a week I am really hungry we can start introducing mushy foods. I started this proces at 234 and then got down to 217.5 by surgery date. After 2 days post op I am at 217.5. So we shall see how it goes from there.

Be patient, take the proper time to heal. Pre-op diet, not sure what you have to do for it. Mine was protein and veggies so that was pretty easy. I ate lots of veggies and salads to keep me full.

It is important to change your relationship with food or this won't work. If you don't eat right you will just gain weight back. Don't worry about that now, just get through pre op and start working on dietary changes now.

Good luck!

Hello. I am 2 days post op. I am a little sore, but it is not bad. You will be able to tolerate it. You will be gassy and I have found that to be more irritating than the incisions. In this process the best thing is to take the preop diet one meal at a time. Don't overthink it or you will feel like you have no motivation to do this. That is how I felt, but when the time came I followed the pre-op diet and felt is was not as bad as I had envisioned it to be. Good luck to you, you will do great!!!!
