Has anyone else out there NOT lost any weight after surgery? Im almost 1 month post-op and nothing has happened. I eat what I should ( lots of protein and very few carbs) and I exercise regularly. Whats up with this? Im so disappointed. I read all the posts and so far almost all of the post-op posts talk about weight loss early on. Im so jealous. I realize that everyone is different but this is just nuts!

Hi, Kelly111:

I can't imagine how you feel, but let's try to figure this out.

First, you say you eat lots of protein and very few carbs. What type of carbs are you eating, how much and how often? I do not eat any carbs, unless they are naturally in veggies. No bread, no crackers, no pasta or potato - none since my surgery in June. My doctor said to wait about 1 year before adding carbs to my diet, and so I will do exactly that.

How much and what kind of protein are you eating? How many meals a day are you eating? How many and what kind of snacks? How much fluid are you taking in? How often do you go to the gym or exercise.

My suggestion is you get a journal, or a pad, and write down everything you eat/drink and at what time you eat/drink. Write down your exercise regiment and then make an appointment to discuss your list with your doctor or his assistant. You might already need a fill.

But, don't give up. You will lose the weight. Don't get discouraged - you will not fail.

I wish you the best of luck. Please keep us informed as to what is going on with you.

I eat a few carbs like 4 crackers with a can of tuna or one slice of toast. I take in about 60 grams of protein in the form of powder, fish, cheese and yogurt. I have no restriction now at all and I feel hungry all the time. I feel that I have been eating more lately but still a very small amount compaired to what I was eating before. My doc only lets me walk at this point. So I usually do 5 miles 5 days a week. Im scheduled for a fill the day before thanksgiving. Truthfully, for 2 1/2 weeks I had less than 500 calories since it was all fluid. I dont understand how even during that time I didnt lose any weight. So having a fill may not necessarily change anything. Im so confused. Im doing everything he says and listening to what people say on here but nothing seems to be working. I havent lost hope. I was just wondering if any one else encountered this and when they started to lose weight.

Hi - I did read about others not losing either. You are not alone. Just stick to the diet and really measure your food. Be careful about eating too few calories, that may also hinder your weight loss. Try to get 400 calories a meal and get in your snacks to avoid overeating. The first fill may not help but keep positive, your body will adjust and you will start to lose weight.

Take a look thru some of the forum posts, I know others have struggled with the same thing you do.

I just wanted you to know you are not alone and give it some time, it will all kick in. Good luck with the fill!

I am just over a month post op. When I started eating regular foods again, I gained 5 pounds, then lost it again. I think the key, for me, is eating 1100-1300/calories a day for me to achieve weight loss. I was eating too few and stuck for awhile. I am a huge believe in sparkpeople.com. You just type in your weight, your goal (by a certain date....ie. Christmas, New Years, etc), and it breaks down how many carbs, calories, amount of protein, fat, etc, that you can have each day and still achieve weight loss. You just input the food you have and VOILA! Good luck with everything. I, too, can't wait for the fills to start!

I'm with you I'm actually "59 days post-op" according to Realizemysuccess.com and have lost 14 pounds total. I try to console myself that when you break it down it's almost 2 pounds a week. But, the 14 pounds I lost were in the first 3 weeks and I haven't lost since. Despite, exercise and staying under 1000 calories a day. I have even had a fill (6cc's in an 11 cc band) and that hasn't really done much. I actually am not getting hungry as often so I guess it's working in that respect, but I think I could eat whatever I want and not have it get stuck. It's really frustrating, I know. I keep wondering how people lose 80 to 100 pounds in a year if it is like this. Maybe I'm an anomaly. I've gotten to the point where I'm trying to forget the band is there and just eat the right things and exercise and hopefully, I will eventually see the results.

It's a journey, so I'm trying to just experience it and try to enjoy the ride.
