Acid reflux

I have had my band for over 4 yrs. and lost 95 lbs. and very happy with the band. Then about a month ago I started to have the chest pains and Dr. said acid reflux. I have used Nexium and Zegred but I can't sleep at night because of all the acid and coughing. Have to sleep sitting up. Any suggestions?

I'm just telling you what my book that the Dr. gave me says...When you lay down & start coughing it usually means your band is filled to tight. Now this is when your healthy not sick with say a cold. I'd check with my Dr. Hope you feel better soon :-)

I had a lot of acid before my band, then nothing after the band until I also had a bout of it. I know it was releated to stress at work . . .are you more stressed right now? If so, try - really try to find some peace time. For me, once that stressful week and 1/2 ended, I have had no more acid problems. Best wishes.

Doesn't look like there have been any updates to this for a while, but I was wondering what the indivudals with the acid reflux have been able to do. I'm 6 years out, have extreme acid reflux and I'm unable to have any fill in my band, it is only primed at this time. If I have any fill, I have to sleep sitting up, and I start coughing which prevents me from sleeping. At this time I've made the decision that sleep is more important, but has anyone been able to find a solution. I've tried Prilosec twice a day and this does not help. My Dr. said this is a rare side effect, but has seen this happen before. I want to use the tool I have, but I'm unable to at this time. I don't regret getting the band, I'll lost 80 pounds, but I'm currently very frustrated. Any ideas?
