Really struggling with the fact that I had to have surgery to fix a band slippage. Original surgery was Feb. 5, 2009 and just had surgery for the repair on Sept. 21, 2010. After being sick with the Flu for two weeks I landed in the ER with the most unbearable pain I've ever experienced in my life. Now that the slippage is fixed and I'm recovering I really worry that it could happen again. The last thing I want is for the band to be removed...after losing 124 lbs...I feel in a way I'm starting this whole process over again. Trying to stay positive

aw, I am so so sorry that you had slip! definately my worst nightmare! I don't think you did anything wrong - I just think it happened due to the flu. Hang in there! I am wishing you all the best!

Just curious but did you have a lot of convulsing and vomitting? That could have caused it! I am about 13 months post band and doing ok, I wish I had lost more by now of course like most. I feel like I start over every day with the band. It is a life thing, and I know it is hard to take, but if you lost that much weight with it, it was very successful for you. Thanks for posting this, we are here for you and will encourage you if we can, as you do the same for us. Those who are experiencing even the difficult times and share are helping others who have or may have the same things happen to them.

Thank you for the support, I really wish I would of found this site earlier. Yes, I was extremely ill with the flu...vomitting etc etc...for about 2 weeks. I think if I had to do it over again, I would of gone to the Doctor who does my fills and have the band completely unfilled. I had this thought in my head that I've had no problems in a year and a half...that I was invincible...so not true. Problems can arise, that have nothing to do with how or what you eat. I see people talk so casually about "throwing up" and having to go through surgery again to correct a slippage is no fun. Basically its just like have your surgery process start all over again...except you have to take things a little slower when it comes to introducing food to you new stomach. My advice to everyone, if your throwing up...GOTO the Doctors ASAP! I will never take this so lightly again...2 days in the ER and a 3 day hospital stay after surgery. :)
