Day 1 Pre-Op Diet

Today's word: HUNGRY!

I woke up, had a protein shake around 5:30, and was hungry at 7:30. So, I had some sugar free jello to help tie me over until lunch time (when I can have another protein shake). I can have coffee, so I just poured myself a bit of that.

I am not loving being hungry, but I am loving the thought of a brand new me. I am determined to follow this pre op diet to a T! I weighed myself last night and felt soooo discouraged. i want it to be the last time I feel that way. I actually lost 6 pounds the last two weeks of my doctor supervised diet, but gained 12 back in just a month and a half!

I am ready to get my body where it needs to be: healthy. I refuse to let my body be a dumping site for all things bad. So, while I am fighting this hungry feeling, this, too, shall pass.

You can do it!!!!!! It's going to be difficult the first few days but distract your mind with other things so that you're not thinking about food. Just keep yourself busy and keep your eye on the prize :)

Thanks! I have been drinking a lot more today. Today, I'm thinking of making a tutu for my daughter then going to sleep early :-) The morning was a little rough, but the afternoon has been pretty decent

There is a product called Isopure. It looks like colored water, but there is 40 grams of protein in each bottle and it will help keep you from being hungry and will help you get your protein in. You can get them at GNC. I like some of the flavors, but everyone's taste is different. I never really cared for the protein shakes, but I use a vanilla shake and I put decalf coffee in it with ice and blend it up. That is pretty much the only one I can get down. Best of luck - sugar free jello, sugar free ice pops, Swanson's Chicken or Beef broth and the Isopure should keep you filled up. Welcome to our club.

I'm right there with you...my first day of nothing but protein drinks. Today has not been to bad, but several more days to go. We can do this! My wife has been a great source of support and she'll keep me honest! Good luck with your surgery and hang in there with the Pre-Op diet.

Thank you all for the encouraging words. I was so thankful to have a Smart Ones meal for dinner last night. Today has been better. I made a protein shake, blended with ice, and it has helped alot. Thank you, Bklynike, for the Isopure suggestion. I may have to try that! I am keeping the attitude that I can do this!!!

Qtney and David,

Stick with it. Its hard but does get easier, you will be surprised at what you loose before your surgery. I lost 27 lbs during my pre-op diet. I could have walked on cloud nine the day of surgery. I couldnt wait to be able to eat some solids though...now just scared of what to eat. But just wanted to say...Stick with it..Drink alot...
