Confused

Okay, so I am really confused about the pre-op diet. I see where so many of you have had to do a liquid diet for almost two weeks before your surgery. My surgeon does not have me doing this. He has me on a high protien diet. So I am I right in assuming every doctor has their own way of doing things?

Yes, every doc is different. Your post-op diet might be different from most too. Just make sure you follow YOUR doctors orders! Good luck!

For sure! As I read the posts here, I see so many different plans, but you know what? I figure you are paying a lot of money for your doctor to give you his expertise . . .either you trust him or you don't. If you trust him, it's best to follow his plan -- that's what I think anyways!!

I was put on the Adkins diet, not a liquid diet. He told me that though he would not recommend anyone being on such a high protein diet for more than 2 weeks, that it did its job by shrinking the liver by 40%. Good luck!

Every doctor has their own way of doing things. Since you have faith in your doc - allowing him to perform surgery on you, I would suggest you follow his diet plan to the letter. Walking after surgery will help with the gas you will experience in your upper back and shoulder. Best of luck and welcome to the greatest journey you will ever take.
