First fill...Where did it go?

I went for my first fill yesterday & I don't feel any different. My Dr. uses Fluoroscopy so they could see how much saline I needed. I drank & they were happy that liquid was finally slowing down. They put in 5cc & said that is a lot for first time fill. Well here's my question...How come I'm still starving? I have to stay on liquids for 48 hrs. in case of swelling. I always follow my Dr.'s advice because he's done a lot of these, but I think I'm not falling in the normal category. Has anyone had a fill this big & still been hungry?...I'm holding on to every bit of will power I possess but 4 weeks is a long time to be so hungry... On the lighter side I've lost 20 lbs.:scared2: Any advice would be welcome!

On my last fill, I thought they had punched a hole in my band cause I felt less restriction, then 10 days later, BAM, sweet spot! It will get better, I promise, your through the worst part.

ETA: Be very careful when you go back to foods, you haven't had any practice eating with restriction and cut everything into super small pieces and just eat one at a time, you also have to eat so slow it seems crazy and chew, chew, chew!

take it easy... i have had 5 fills and still dont feel much restriction. Everyone is different. I am almost at my 1 year anniv and i have lost about 42 lbs.... not much compared to others in the site BUT i look at it in a positive light. My clothes fit me well, i am shrinking slowly but surely!.

Best of luck

my doctor never has us on a liquid diet after a fill. It is mushies and no meat, bread or pasta for 24 hrs. I was filled on Monday and Thursday has a sever episode with food getting stuck after one bite. Now today I feel normal again. I don't look for the restriction so much anymore. I look to see that I am eating appropriate portions at each meal and that I am not hungry for 4-6 hrs between meals. That happened to me last month and I was considered in the green zone so no fill. Two weeks later I was getting stuck quite often. Then a week after that I was eating HUGE portions at each meal even though I wasn't hungry for 6 hrs between meals and I still lost. I got the fill Monday and other than getting stuck that is the only real "restriction" I have felt.

I was banded 5-12-10 and am down 53lbs so something is working. I don't count calories or fat. I just eat whatever I choose in moderation and stop when I have my full feeling. It's all about listening to your body.

I am 5 weeks post op and had my first fill on Wednesday. I was told that I had 1cc from surgery and was only given .5cc for my fill. I was very disappointed with the small amount of fill that I was given. I am still hungry all the time and I dont go back for another fill until the 22nd. Thats along time to be hungry. It also seems that I am more hungry now than I was before the fill?? Anyone else have this problem or does the fill kick in days later with everyone?

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
    • I'm literally almost crying reading this. Mostly because I'mon this pre-op diet and these last two days have been difficult... but also because I needed this! Thank you! Congrats! And a BIG congrats on quitting smoking a second time! It was hard enough to do it once... So - when I say BIG congrats... I mean BIIIIIG congrats! ❤️

      Einarmige Banditen
