My surgery was in July of 2008! I have really only lost about 49 lbs. I seem to have a 10lb variance all the time, up and down. I HATE having fills done, and I realize this is probably why I have not lost more. How pathetic is it? I think I've had a total of 4 or 5 fills in two years! They have a hard time hitting my port, the Dr always has to come in and do it, and even with him and the sonography-it slides. I am sore for days after this. Plus I hate the nurse that is always telling me, the more weight I lose it'll be easier for them to hit the port! Excuse me? With her looking down her nose attitude, I also don't care to go back in. Compare to how I used to eat and comsume coca cola- my life changes have been drastic! I eat small portions several times a day, if I ever try and over do it, things come up! Yes, even with going months between fills. I drink a lot of tea and water. I am very bad at not exercising. Started off strong, and then I've gotten lazy again. There are two ladies at my job, that have both had the band done this year. I'm now starting to hang my head-they both seem to be making better progress than me, and yes, you know people talk! Anyways, I know I've done things right. I do watch what I eat. For this amount of weight though, I think surgery was a waste.

I am sorry you are having such a hard time. However, the lap band is just a tool and if you attitude is askew there is no way you are going to lose weight. Go back in for your fills on a regular bases regardless if it takes a bit to hit the port or if you think the nurse is looking down on you, which I doubt. Most people that get into this business love helping people get to their goals and it is hard to tell people what they do not want to hear.

I know you can do it... it is not going to be easy getting upbeat about almost "starting" again but just make yourself do it. Remember, this is for you, not your co worker or friends but for you. Get in the gym, no more excuses ...no more I don't have time, I don't feel like it.. just get it down and cross it off your list for the day. I know we all what the weight to fall off with not much effort but it does take a total life style change. Do it for yourself, please don't let another day go by with a "I can't lose weight attitude" but instead, "I will do what ever it takes to make it attitude". I am not going to wish you luck but I will wish you strength to get your weight loss journey to start today! Take care.

Maybe you can find a new health care provider for your fills? As LapBand becomes more prevalent, there are more options out there. It is worth a shot to see if you can get some better after care to help kickstart you back on your journey!

First of all, you need a new doctor - one who will motivate you. You need a partner to work out with and you need to journal your food. I wish you luck.

It has almost been a 1 year for me and i have lost 42 lbs...not much compared to others... I have been keeping a food journal and i have been working out 2-3 times a week...i dont get of the elliptical till it tells me i have burned atleast 400 calories.

One thing you have that i dont, is retriction...i have had 5 fills and i still dont feel much restriction and get hungry between meals....

It took me 10 years to gain 100 lbs and my realistic goal is to loose it in less that 2 years.

I have not lost any significant weight in the last 2 months...im steady and that pisses me off. BUt i keep telling myself that am loosing and try to keep a positive view.

If you do not feel comfortable with the nurse, the go somewhere else. Remember this is a business and you are a costumer.

my guess is that if you start going to the gym...you body will wake up and the weight will come off.

Best of luck!!!
