Each doctor has their own reasoning as to why they feel that they should be so strict or so lenient. Mine was very strict like yours. I would prefer him to be strict. It caused me to have less problems in the long run (I believe). I didn't eat things I shouldn't or get stuck by eating things too early. But yes, there are many different procedures out there!! I wish you the very best on your journey!!

My Doctor is also very strict. I will be on only clear fluid for one week and then full fluids for another week, Only then can I have jello and soups. All Doctors are different. I know it seems painful but the longer you let your stomach heal the better off you will be. Good Luck

I thought I had it rough till I came here. My doctor did a liver panel on me presurgey, it was great. I didn't have to do more than 24 hours of clear liquids presurgical, many people seem to have to do 2 full weeks. I also started softs/mushies on the 6th day after surgery. I've healed great. I asked my doctor why the difference. She told me that she prefers we start getting in animal proteins and less synthetic proteins. Every doctor is different.
