so I have completely fallen off the wagon...as in sometimes I feel like I never even got this procedure done...I got to the point where I can eat whatever and how much ever I want...I am going for my first fill next Friday...does anyone have any advice on what I should do to prepare?

I heard someone about a pouch test? should I do that? and what exactly is that?..I dont want to go to the Dr to get my fill and I still am able to eat whatever because my pouch is stretched...I have no idea what to do...I am definitley disappointed in myself...but I am going to get back on track..just need some motivation and advice...anyone!?:)

I completely understand-how many weeks post surgery are you? If you haven't gone for a fill yet I'm guessing you're less than 6 weeks out. I'm 3 weeks out and am concerned over everything! I took a bite of food (supposed to be on mushy food) and I'm convincing myself I've caused my band to slip! Hang in there. I'm reading a book recommended by a friend- The four day win by Martha Beck. She's a life coach-I think some of what we struggle with is the internal struggle over what we should do and what we actually do. Good luck!

I had to go back to my dr. after four week from surgery. He told me then to eat whatever I wanted, till I come back for my first fill, so he could get some idea if there was any restriction already. I hadn't lost any weight and he did my first fill. I am eating the right kind of foods now, but still am not losing lbs, and don't feel any restriction. I guess it just works differently for everyone. And of course I can't be one of the lucky ones that starts losing right from the start. I too, feel like I never had the procedure done, although I am eating healthier. I paid for this myself, so I need to be patient and stay on the right track. But I definately need the band help, as I'm not good on my own

Before your first fill you can eat normally....the band is only in place with no restriction....the slight restriction post op is due to being swollen....trust me after your fill you will feel like you have a band....but even your first fill will only last a week or two so you will need to get another fill within the month at the start........you will be glad you had the operation once you have your fill.....your only human and you will have good and bad food days.....but once the fill has occurred you will not be able to binge / over eat as you will get a sharp pain in you back / shoulder blades......if you try to eat pass this pain it will be near impossible.....keep your chin up :) you will do well

Bentsam, I hope you made it to the dr and got a fill by now. I am familiar with the pouch test and have recommended it to others but I would not say for you to do it right now. I am hoping you were just needing a fill especially since you had not had one. It seems like it is hard for you to get to the dr but I can't stress it enough how important it is for you to find that time until you get to your sweet spot. Hopefully you have an agressive dr and it will only take 3 or 4 fills. This will make a huge difference. I wish you the very best on your journey!!
