OK tomorrow is my last appointment with my primary care physician for the 3 month supervised weight loss attempt. I am a little nervous about it. I haven't had much of a weight loss even though i appear smaller. I am afraid they will deny me because of this. I've done all i could do, so now it will be a waiting game. :)

No, that isn't why they have you do it. My PCP said it was to show the insurance company you have made at least one non-surgical attempt at weight loss before approving surgery.

Read my post tonight about waiting. You will perservere. There are just these hoops we have to get through. You will be so happy in a few short months, keep the faith, and it will come to you.

I had to do 6 months with my doctor and then another 6 months with a nutritionist because the doctor didn't document correctly (what a waste of time that was) I gained 30 lbs during the last 6 months to show insurance that no matter what I did nothing worked. I journaled everything I ate and exercised and how I felt during the day and what I was thinking and all this bs they make you do. Then I waited and after the nutritionist turned in her recommendation it took the insurance company 1 month to come back with the approval letter. It took 1 1/2 years from start to surgery. Waiting was the hardest part for me too. Good luck hopefully you won't run into the problems I did and it will go smoothly for you.

wow I'm hearing a lot more about the process taking a year so I am blessed its only taking 3 months (hopefully). All is in now so I just have to wait.

I just finished my three month diet and it isn't bad. They aren't looking to see if you have lost weight----just that you are making an attempt to. Best of luck in your journey! Are you submitting for approval now?

I decided in Jan of this year that I wanted to have Lap-band surgery. I talked to my doctor in Feb and went to a seminar. I started with my surgeons office in March (he has an all inclusive type practice) I spent the next 5 months seeing the nutritionist and doing my one on one psych evals (6months were required) had the sleep study, egd and cardio work up, finished by the end of july. Chart was submitted around August 3 and I received approval in a few days. My surgery is scheduled for Sept 10. So I guess compared to some it moved quickly. I am so relieved that all the appointments are done now I just have to start to wrap my head around the fact that its really gonna happen! I have been so overweight and limited for so long I can't wait to start my new life!!!!!

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
