Ok....so I am 1 week now post-op and I'm STARVING and the smell of food is making me nuts!!!! Has anyone else during this stage ever put food in their mouth (tonight my hubby made bbq chicken so that is what mine was) chewed it up to get the taste and flavor and then spit it out? I know it's gross but I did this tonight and afterwards felt guilty for doing it. I kept thinking to myself that I just want a taste.....

Today was my 1st day in the last 3 that I didn't have that "chicken bone" feeling in my chest and therefore was able to drink a bit more. Am I going crazy or are these normal things and feelings?????

First of all forgive yourself you are so normal and I did that too. I used to lick the food just for the taste. Lets face it we love food. In a few weeks you will be able to eat anything you want in small amounts. Remember I said small. Good things are worth the wait. Stay focused and follow the band program rules it will only be better for you.

You are NOT crazy!! It is the feeling (or ideas) that get into your head you will need to watch out for.

I have been banded a year and a month, down 110 and Happier than ever. This lap band really works if you work with it. I choose to eat real food, not much, mostly plants and protein first.

I had that "chicken bone" feeling too back in the day. It will go away if you Sip slower and smaller. Your body needs to take time to heal due to healing from the inside out. Best wishes imaluckydog

I was a spitter too! Good job on spitting it out instead of swallowing it, your stitches holding your band in place are still healing and you don't want to interfere with that. You will be back to the land of eating soon, just wait it out. You can do it!

Me too! And I think it helped me to just have that taste - it satisfied me. I wasn't suffering with the liquid diet, I just wanted to taste what I was smelling. No harm, no foul. Stick with your plan, you're doing great!
