Hunger increases at the end of one year with the band! Take a Diet Pill?

:closedeyes:Well, I have to tell you that I don't lie about this band journey! I have started being hungrier at the end of the first year, so you newbies, milk it for all you can get while you are NOT hungry at first.

It feels like I am hungrier now, and my tummy growls too, it did not do that at first.

I am debating trying to add a diet pill to help with the last 20-25 lbs of weight I need to get off! I am not in a hurry really, but I get worried when the weight just drags or comes off and then right back on, 2 to 3 lbs rolling over and over again is frustrating too.

I have heard of some taking a diet pill at the end to encourage the band, should I? Should I not?

Anyone done this? I heard HCG is good???

I would love to hear what you did, if you would share.

Had a great day with my granddaughter and Mom today! God Bless!:lol:

I don't know as I'm a little later in the process, but my surgeon said the average bander loses 60-70% of their excess weight, so they must assume the rest doesn't happen? You are right, it doesn't make sense.

Keep us updated? And good luck

I've always been an advocate of doing whatever works for you! But I seem to have bad reactions (or no reactions at all) to diet pills, so I can't help you there. Definitely keep us updated on what you do. We are behind you!!

Diet pills set you up to fail, you will lose as much muscle as fat and then you burn less calories a day so you have to eat less when you get off them. I would rather have an extra 20 pounds weight than use them. (OK, I am getting off my soap box now.)

What about a trainer? If you burn more you can eat more.

Good luck with what you decide.

I think NOT, that's just me. I would eat good quality high protein foods with lots of veggies. REAL FOOD.

Pills are NOT the answer. That is my thought on the matter.

Thanks you wonderful friends, I too am leary of Pills, and I think I will just add more resistance to my exercise and more walking, jogging etc. and let the band do it's work! My husband is happy with me right now! LOL I don't want my heart to be affected or get on speed either. Love you all!

I have 2 different prescription diet pills that I take and I can't imagine going throughout the day without taking at least one. They seem to take that edge off of wanting to eat everything in site and give me the extra energy I need to get my exercise in. I take mine and have a protein shake in the morning and don't feel hungry for another 6-7 hours so I know they work for me. Do whatever works for you and good luck with this journey.

Janet, I too am having a hard time getting the last 20 pounds off. I went to my doctor last week and he was very happy with my progress. He told me on average it take two to three years to get the full benefit of the band. You and I have almost reached our goal in one year. Hang in there I know we both will eventually get those last 20 pounds off. I have two friends who are taking HCG and have had good luck with it. I have decided not to take that route just yet?

i was on prescription diet pills. i stopped taking them once i had my surgery. the pills DO curve your appetite but i am still leary of them b/c i think that they are bad for you.

so my vote for you is NO PILLS!

I am SO glad to be off of them!

Personally I wouldn't take the diet pills because of the adverse affects on the heart, etc.. I understand that green tea helps you lose weight so you could add a few cups of green tea to your day. Oolong and white tea are even more effective - google them and read up on them and decide if they are right for you. All in all you have had excellent success over the past year and that is something to be very proud of!
