I was banded on July 28, 2010. I felt great the first 24 hours, when I was on the hospital pain meds. Once I have been home, I am still struggling with pain and I have difficulty standing up and sitting down. My scars look pretty good, but are tender. I am also hoooooongry. I can't wait to get on mushy foods next week.

My family has been very supportive, however, I just feel generally cranky right now. I am hoping this will pass.....

It will get better! I also felt pretty craptastic the first couple days, but I took my last pain killer on Day 3 before bed and havent had any since. Of course I had incentive to switch to just liquid tylenol since I had to crush up darvocet and mix with liquid (which tastes awful!) Im a bit cranky myself but my parents are being pretty supportive in dealing with it- Hang in there!

Take the d*mn pain meds...I wish someone had slapped me silly with birthing my first two the 'natural' way (26 hrs. later)...ahh epidural with the third.

In another day or two you WILL feel a LOT better, I promise. The hunger...well, it will be here until you get a couple of fills, but you knew that going in. The first six weeks are for HEALING ONLY...small meals and more of them if you need to, but no big meals. This is the time when complications are most likely to happen, so take it slow even though you won't feel any different in a few days. Congrats on your banding! -BG

I'm sorry to hear you don't feel well, but it will get better! I was so moody after for about 2wks. I would yell at my husband and cry from tv commercials! LOLLOL....But, all will be better, just make sure you are drinking lots of protein shakes! The protein will help make you feel "not so crazy" and help with being hungry. My doc had me on liquids for the first 2 weeks. About 5 days later, after the swelling went down, I was so hungry, but I found that soup broth and protein shakes helped and it ended up not being very bad! Good luck and keep us posted! :)

Hello! I also had my banding done on July 28th. I am amazed at how many commericials are on TV about food. I didn't really notice it before (LOL). However, I am so sick of being on this liguid diet. But....I know that I must...5 days out(counting surgery day). I hope your pain subsides soon. I am not in so much pain as it is just discomfort. I can deal with that though! :)

If your doctor did not send you home with a liquid pain medication, get on the phone right away and request some. You should not be in pain - especially not for 4 days.

I had pain the day after surgery, but I got up each and every commercial and walked around my apt. It got easier to get up and down and the gas went away quickly.

Protein shakes are the saving grace in this stage, and you must be drinking a lot of water. If you don't like the protein shakes, get yourself some Isopur. There are 40grams per bottle and it will fill you up, although it just looks like colored water. Good luck, it will get better. This is the best gift you could have given yourself.

I am right there with you! I am one day ahead and today was the best day yet - hang in there! I could not have protein shakes until today and wow - yum! It took away that cranky nasty crying feeling. I am still very weak but took a walk outside thanks to a wonderful cool front that came in. I walked about 2x longer than my husband thought I would want to. I know I will feel even better next week too!

Just want you to know you are not alone and get some pain meds!!

Hello, I was banded one year to the day ahead of you, I still remember how I felt as well, but on the fourth or fifth day I was really on the mend, my scars have all but faded away now. The pain is really coming from gas and in incisions and stitches around the port area, so you should take something for pain, if you cannot take strong meds. Then just pulverize tylenol or some tablet and mix it with water and take it! You are entitled!!! God Bless I am praying for you and wish you a wonderful year of weight loss.
