So I had my consultation yesterday 07/30/2010. And it went pretty fast, so I am definately morbidly obese per my surgeon. But before he sends his report to my insurance I have to have an endoscopy done, which I always thought that procedure was going to be done in the Dr's office. So I'm scheduled for that in 2weeks.:confused: Little scared cause its going to be done at the hospital. I'm probably being silly but other than having my tooth pulled out I've never had anything major like this done. So I'm totally excited and can't wait to get everything approved tests done and then lap band surgery, new beginnings to a long healthy life.:unsure::lol::smile2::thumbup:

Sounds like you are well on your way PM, best wishes. The endoscopy is no big deal, in my opinion, I've had several and my dad had them every 3 months because he had esophogeal cancer. The way they are done here, you are under twilight sedation - not full anesthesia, so no breathing tube needed . . you go to sleep and when you wake up you don't remember a thing. Hope it goes that well for you. And I hope the rest of your testing goes well also. This is a great journey, welcome aboard.

Congrats PM82 on your decision. I can only speak for myself but I am sure many shared the initial jitters but I researched the Lap Band in great detail and talked to many before making the final decision and realize this is the only decision that will get me healthy and happy. It may seem "drastic" to some (friends, family) that don't realize how the tool works but ultimately it was my decision and the best one I could have ever made. Cheers to a longer, healthier, funner, happier life!!

I too will be having an EGD sometime in this preop process. I have never had one, but watched many when I was in nursing school. Like others have said, it seems like a fairly simple procedure. You will get some good med through your IV and will wake up not remembering a thing!

I look forward to following your journey!!! (((HUGS)))
