Hi,

I just did surgery 2 days ago and stayed in the hospital for 2 nights. I am getting lots of gas and it I cant take in too much fluids. So far today I have only done 2 ounces of soup some protein water and I plan to drink a ounce more later of protein shake. I want to get all my protein in and I am concerned about this. I feel terrible when I have this gas. Will it go away? I have not done number 2 and was concerned about that too. Please give some feedback!!

Hi for me the gas pain went away by day 5 to 8. Since your not eating anything, it won't be time to use the b-room for #2.

Hi Lovely, I had surgery on a Thursday and by Sunday still had not had a bowel movement. I was concerned about a possible blockage because of previous surgeries, so I called the surgeon on call (who was not my dr.), he had me take milk of mag., which I wish I would not have done (and later learned my doctor does not recommend), it did get me going . . .water movements for a day and 1/2. I think things will work out . . the nurse at my doctor's office told me it just takes a while for everything to "wake up" from the anesthetic. I used GasX for the gas pain and that along with walking, walking, walking, the pain left by about day 5. Good luck .. . keep us posted.

Walking and GasX strips. Saving grace! Also, in the first couple days I used a heating pad on my shoulder -- really helped.

Take care, it will get better..........

First congrats on having the surgery. You may not believe it right now, but this is the best thing you could have done for yourself.

Gas + horrible pain in the shoulder. You must walk, walk, walk. When watching TV get up on the commercials and walk around your residence. You will find it a little difficult to "go" #2. I am 5 weeks out and will be starting a stool softener tonight, not a laxative.

It gets better, I promise.

I had my surgery last Monday and I'm STILL suffering with the gas pains! That is really the ONLY pain I have. I actually went #2 today for the 1st time but it was more water then anything. Good luck to you and I pray for a speedy recovery!!!

Hi, I had my surgery on Wednesday and still have a lot of gas. I want to get rid of it one way or another. I do know that walking helps a lot. I also was able to go #2 yesterday. That was a relief. However, I am surprised that the scales have me heavier than pre surgery. How can that be with this liguid diet? I guess it is from all of the swelling. However, I feel like I should be 10 pounds lighter. I am not going to weigh myself again until I go to the Dr. next Friday. Although, I am excited to see a drop in weight.

I am feeling better. I have less gas but some heartburn. I feel better every day and have lost 6 pounds since Tuesday. I did measure myself in the hospital several days ago and the scale was actually more as well. Gas x has helped as well as walking. I stayed with my parents for a few days and it was so hard for me because I smelled the cooked food and the coffee. I really wanted some! I know I could not and that really bothered me. I am back home with my son and I feel I will be able to handle the temptation aspect better because I will only have to prepare food for my son. I am very happy about my weight loss and started to try on some dresses and jeans. I can’t wait to lose all the weight!!!
