Hungry- Stupid Liquid Diet

Today is day 1 of a liquid diet that I was put on yesterday after getting my pre-op testing results from my surgeon. There was no warning and therefore I didnt think to go all out for my "last meal".

I am hungry...so far, I have had 3 protein shakes, which amounts to 500 calories and 60 carbs...can you say starving? I realize that my belly is not growling, however I do feel just a tad light headed and just want the day to be over.

I don't know how people do this for 2 weeks but I know that my 6 days will be torture. ;)

The noises your stomach will make are amazing! Just look at it this way -- you are getting your body and mind ready for this life-changing experience :-).

There will be some days that seem long, but seriously the end result and even the victories along the way will be SO WORTH IT.

I don't mean to sound wierd, but I like hearing my stomach growl now. Hadn't heard that in years........ And I feel so much energy and joy for life I hadn't had in years.

Best wishes to you, and congratulations on starting on the road to health! This forum is an excellent place to share and learn.

Sandy

Please don't give in. You are trying to get to a pretty, fine, sexy liver size...lol.....I wanted to put a smile on your face.....are you able to eat a light meal for dinner.

It will go great. find something to do to take your mind off food....experiment with different protein mixes...

Add a teaspoon of reduced peanut butter or a teaspoon of sugar free chocolate and you will enjoy it alot more. I was the same way until I added them two things. Another thing is egg drop soup or beef broth with multiple seasoning.

The key is to make smoothies that are of substance. They will keep you full and you'll feel like you're eating something.

I do lots of various ones but a couple of simple ones are:

1/3 blender of ice

1/2 cup greek yogurt (Fage 0% is best - lots of protein)

2 scoops of vanilla (I use whole foods brand whey protein)

strawberries (6-8 should do)

Agave nectar to taste

Blend to desired consistency. I blend mine to a thick milkshake consistency, you stay full longer and you actually feel like you're eating something. And being the summer time it's a refreshing treat.

My next favorite one is using the frozen fruit mix from costco (mangos, peaches, strawberries sliced and frozen in a bag).

Ice 1/3 blender

Fruit 1/2 cup

Orange Juice 4-8oz

Protein Powder (Vanilla) 1 or 2 scoops

Agave Nectar to taste

Blend.. this one is so tropical and good.

I had to be on protein shakes for 3 weeks so I understand what you're feeling, I got super creative, hot chocolates, puddings, etc.. all made from protein shakes.. but the above are my quick favorites to go to.

Remember Greek Yogurt and Agave Nectar are your friends in this time period blended into a smoothie it's definitely of GOD! lol

Thanks for the words of wisdom everyone! I am keeping track of all of these tips and hopefully will experiment this weekend.

And no small dinner @ enchatness1908...just protein shakes and liquids.

4 more days to go, I can do this!!
