Hello friends, I'm new to this site and am just beginning my journey today. I hope I'm not wasting my time trying to get an approval from Tricare. My family doc JUST diagnosed me with high b/p last month, but not on any meds yet AND I'm borderline diabetic, start meds in Aug. if my blood sugar doesn't come down by then. I'm 5'7" and weigh 248. Do I have a snowballs chance of getting approved???

How could it be a waste of your time? Its a big decision, but one that will help you improve your health for a lifetime.

I don't know about your insurance company. Blue Cross California didn't even take 24 hours to approve. But my BMI was higher and I was on blood pressure medication. However, it was an HMO (not PPO), and it was supposedly higher. Google insurance approvals for lap band -- it will bring your spirits up. Insurance companies are making big changes in how they view the cost of wls versus a lifetime of co-morbidities.
