Stress and the band

Anyone else get SUPER tight restriction when they're stressed or upset?

In the 7 months I've had my band I've been blessed to have it pretty easy, the past few days I've been having some personal issues that are a cause of stress and anger. For the past 3 days it has been difficult for me to eat anything even though I'm hungry and try to eat it, within 3 bites I'm full or in pain from trying to eat/restriction.

Does anyone else experience this? And keep in mind, I missed my scheduled fill on the 15th.. so it's not that..

Hi yes I have had some very stressful life situations that have caused my band to feel more restricted. Well, as my Dr. put it is NOT the Band that is being restricted it is the muscles around the band that are tensing up and making it feel like I got tighter. The band does not change on its own the muscles around the band do. On two separate occasions I need to have Un-fills just a smidge but it helped. Then got fill a few weeks later it is all about adjustment. I even started losing again after the unfill so they do have there advantages. If you are having any acid reflux see you Dr. ASAP. I hope this has helped. Best wishes over 1 year 110 pounds down LB works listen to your body. imaluckydog

Stress releases cortizone into our systems and that causes the stomach to swell and thus tightens the band! I use to stress before each fill and leave not getting enough! I don't like needles period and I would watch the monitor trying not to see. My Dr. made me close my eyes to relax to get the fill! I do know that stress does me the same way. When I have my Mom who is Alzheimers, it stesses me so much because I think about how much longer she will know me and hear her talking about nothing and have to answer her questions over and over about where is she, who is going to stay with her, where is her vehicle, can she drive, she loses everything and I have to hunt for it. Getting her dressed for Church is a task, very slow, we are always late. LOL I love her and want to do it, not complaining, but just to show you, after Church, we go to eat, I take three bites, PAIN, no food and I am so hungry! It is STRESS! I take her back to the Assisted Living, take my food home, eat it, when relaxed, COLD! But this is my life with the Band! Still Love it, still love my Sundays with my Mom!

Yes when I get upset or stressed or nervous I do the same. I get extrememly tight and if I push it I will slime but that may be because I am the queen of sliming. I will get so tight water gurgles. I took a few moments to think about it and you know I decided that is just the band doing it's job. In the past when I would get upset or stressed I would eat so in my mind I am saying that the band is keeping me from emotional eating however I know it is frustrating not to be able to eat. Trust me it is the end of the fiscal year at my work and I haven't been able to eat much either because of the stress.

OMG!!! I swear I was just about to post this!!! I had a clever name for my blog and everything...it was gonna be" instant restriction via stress"! LOL! It is so bad for me! It's to the point where I don't want to even eat if Im going through anything or my daughter is being naughty. I could be eating soup...she starts crying and next thing you know...Im hugging the toilet! I get soooooo tight from stuff that usually slides....I'm glad I'm not the only one....Ps Sorry you are going through some stuff! It will get better! Take care and keep in touch! :)
