Nervous...

Am thinking today about how final this is. I think about how the benefits of getting banded are way better than having health problems from being so overweight.

I'm worried that I might not be able to handle some of my favorite foods, like the Vietnamese spring rolls (rice paper wrappers, bean sprouts, veggies and I get the thin grilled sliced pork) and Chinese food. I love making Mexican food at home also. ...and I don't want to give up soda, but that should be the easiest to give up if I have to.

I was also thinking about how I've only told a few family members and one friend, that I'm going to get banded. I just don't want everyone to know how I'm losing weight.

So, these are just some things I was thinking about today. ;)

My band likes spring rolls, even when I'm tight tight....USUALLY mexican isn't an issue (except rice)...I was never a big soda drinker so can't help ya there....the trade offs are worth it. You'll do great!

Moderation is the key to success! I never once looked at this as a diet. This is a lifestyle change. I eat everyday foods but very small amounts. I never say that I will "never eat" that again because I will more than likely eat it again. With that being said there are some foods that I have put on a list that I can't eat but it is very small list (5 things) and in no way do I feel deprived. Considering I have lost 105 lbs in 7 1/2 months I would do this again in a heart beat!! I wish you the very best!! Good luck on your journey!!

I try to stay on the high protein low carb eating but sometimes I have what I want and when the scale doesn't move, I know why. You can have what you want just a little bit not a whole meal. I've only had to give up shrimp because it got stuck once and I thought I was going to die that way. It took a day and a half before it passed and I was able to eat again.

I only told my closest family members because I didn't want to hear from people that I took the easy way out or I should be losing faster than I am and it's no one business how you are losing the weight. I just tell people that it is because of eating habits and exercise...that seems to make them happy. Good luck to you on this journey.

I have not had a Diet Coke in 10 months... i miss it mostly fo the caffeinne. I am not a coffee/tea drinker. but i think if i had a soda today i would not like how blated it makes you...and the burping would last all day!

I love Asian food...i still eat it but i make sure i divide it in 2- 3 portions so thati make sure i dont eat all of it.

I dont have much restriction and so i am going with will power.

I have not had bread ...that i gave up on my own.

Rice i think i will never be able to give up...must be a Latina thing.

Take everyday as a new day... i screw up alot but i dont put myself down.

I have lost 40lbs...not as much as many in this site but i, getting closer to my 1st goal!

I told everyone.... most are supportive, some have become the "food police"

Hello,

It is great that you are making great strides toward your goal. Be encouraged, you can do it. I just had the surgery on June 9th of this year and I am down approx. 40lbs myself. I refuse to eat bread, pasta, rice, and definitely any sweets. I have not had a fill yet, so my eating habits are all mental at this point. My goal is to lose 2.5 pounds a week to reach 250 lbs by June of next year. I'd rather do it with mental power than the physical restrictions a fill places on you. This will only increase vomiting. Stay focused and remember to get your vitamins in, this is very important!!!!
