Honestly, I haven't seen my surgeon since the surgery. I meet with the nurse each time I have a fill and then I see the fill doc (which I could schedule to be my surgeon, but I don't) when I get my fills. I think I'm supposed to have a 6 month check up with him which should be coming up soon. Even though I haven't met much with him, I feel that I get good attention from the nurse & fill doc if I want it. Do you have a support group that you can go to? I find that most of my best information and help has come from that. Good luck!

Most surgeons don't see you much after the first time because they spend most of their days in surgery. I have a 2-year follow up, which was included in my surgery. I will see him if needed, but he has many other nurses and doctors in the office for fills. But he is only a phone call away, if needed. Good luck to you.

My Surgeon is very interested in on-going long-term follow-up. I do not see a Nurse or PA. The initial fee I paid him covers my ongoing care as long as he still practices medicine. He is a Lap Band patient himself and understands the need for ongoing long-term care. He was very insistant that when I reach the point of regaining some weight (he says everyone does at some point) that we work very closely together... he strongly feels that the close follow-up results in better longterm outcomes for us. This is one reason why I chose him to be my surgeon. He says the body at some point will in fact start to hold on to calories after I reach my goal and that is when he wants to be sure he is there to adjust the band to limit and address that.

Right now I am having throat spasms four weeks post-op...all the time. Very uncomfortable! Since I have had two throat surgeries there is nothing to do but live with feeling choked I guess. That is the only complaint except for constant gas...both up and down... never have I had so much gas. Does that settle down and decrease over time?

I see my surgeon every month. He is the one who does my fills. The nurse only does my blood pressure and so forth. He does all of the rest..how am I doing, what am I eating. Actually the entire office staff (from the dr down) and I have became friends since I have now known them for over 3 years. He has done a few other surgeries on me as well as I fought the insurance company for 2 years.
