I am in the same boat. I didn't know anything about the band when I got it and thought I could eat what I wanted and still lose the weight, boy was that wrong. I fall off the wagon alot of the time and know it but that doesn't stop me from overeating or eating the wrong foods. You are just in a rut and October will come soon enough so you need to really look at the big picture and ask yourself if it is all worth it when you don't want to exercise or eat the wrong foods. I have vacation at the end of August and I am trying to lose as much weight as possible so I can fit into my vacation clothes I bought last year and thought I would be in now. It will probably take me losing another 20 lbs to get in them but I'm going to give it a shot. Good luck.

You just have to find out what works for you. Some people work out, some people don't. Some people log calories, some people don't. Some people "diet", some people don't. Based on the varying routines of folks that are successful, I don't think that there is any one magic thing that is going to make you successful. You just have to figure out what works for you. Try one thing, whether it be food related like monitoring carbs or exercise related like walking for 20 minutes, and do it for a couple weeks. Doing something...anything, helps to feel productive working toward a goal. Best of luck to you!!
