Shocked at Weight Loss (Not in a Good Way)

Saturday mornings are weigh in at Weight Watchers. I follow the plan religiously and work out hard 6 days a week. I expect losses in the 2-3 lbs range each week.

Nope. .4 lbs. 4/10th of a pound? I shudder to think what would have happened if I didn't sweat my ass off one day or ate two pretzels!!!

I'm going to have my first fill Monday. I'm calling Monday morning to see if I can get in with the nutritionist and print out my logs from daily.plate and have her take a look. Maybe not enough food = really really slow metabolism/starvation mode??? Maybe too much protein? Who knows but I'll look to people who have been there or are the doctor's staff for support at this point.

My first instinct after leaving WW was to go home and eat something like fries and skip the gym -- water aerobics and some cardio. I'm gonna try instead to stay really busy this weekend, eat well and be smart about it.

Without knowing what you're eating its hard to say. I know there's some that prescribe to the diet after lapband method but I'm not one of them. I got this so I can eat normally, just in controlled portions. I lose 2-4lbs a week eating whatever I want, but I make sure to eat balanced meals that provide me with the necessary calories and protein that allow me to continue to lose. I'm not so sure that WW can really provide you with the special needs of the Lapband, but I don't know for sure and if it works for you, GREAT!

I can tell you though, that weekly weighins aren't always helpful, I make it a point to only weigh myself once a month because as women our weight can fluctuate dramatically from week to week.

Also you mentioned you're working out.. it's quite possible that you're gaining muscle which is GREAT. That's the catalyst you need get you to the next level of fat burning.

At month 3 I had lost 74lbs post op at month 5 I gained 40lbs back in muscle in month 6 I lost more weigh for a total of 43lbs lost since surgery. At first I was devastated but when I realized my body NEEDED that muscle gain to lose more and not to mention although the scale is up my sizes are down *BONUS*

It'll all even out... I would say if you're doing all the right things and you're not seeing the scale move it's one of 3 things:

1.) Not enough calories - Starvation mode as you said.

2.) Not enough or too much protein

3.) Muscle mass weight gain.

Hope the visit to the nutritionist is helpful to you! Best wishes!

Aww SandraDee (My names Sandra too. lol) Try not to get discouraged. What you don't lose this week you may drop double next week. I agree with Ms. Jackson, there are a number of factors as to why your body is holding on to the weight.

I also weight myself one per week. I personally need to know that IF I'm not losing I'm at least not gaining. If it's muscle gain great! But then my clothes will begin to feel loose so I know I'm still "losing" no matter what the scale says.

How are YOUR clothes fitting you? It could be that you're losing inches. Not a bad idea though to see your nutritionist if that will make you feel better about what you're consuming. Unfortunately we don't always see results when we want but you'll def see them soon enough.

Have a great week ladies!!!

Thank you for the posts, ladies. I only go to Weight Watchers to weigh in, I don't follow their plan. Because I also belong to LA Fitness and have a trainer, I am going to start weighing there when WW expires on 7/27. I follow my surgeon's plan re: protein, fat and carbs.

I am eating a lot of protein-- more than 80gms 3 times this week. And my clothes are bigger than last week, so I'm going to pull the "gaining muscle" card, stick to the plan and not beat myself up.

I am not a good weight loser. My body metabolism must be almost 0, and I'm in early menopause and have noticed pre-band that if I eat more than 1700 calories a day I gain weight.

Thanks again for the input and the support :-)
