I eat almost everything my friends eat. I don't eat a lot of bread because it gets stuck. Honestly, I wish I could have given up bread before the surgery, but I never have the will power. Now I have no choice, but I'm okay with that. If you would have told me that pre-surgery, I don't think I would have believed you.

You do have to be ready to change, but if you are careful and pay attention to your body, you can eat most anything.

I eat real food! Not too much. Mostly plants with Protein FIRST. Ok I do not choose to eat pasta and bread. But I have and I can eat it if I want too.

Before I was banded my Dr. said to me you will never be able to eat the amounts you are used to eating now I was pleased with this thought. He said when you go out to dinner you will only be able to eat an appetizer portion. Now this is true. I can eat real food as a matter of fact I cook all my own foods and have been healthier for doing so. I am almost at my 1 year Bandversary on June 29!! I will be able to say I have lost 100 pounds I am so PSYCHED about this.

Your body will want to make good food choices. Just follow all the band rules. Best wishes and always eat REAL FOOD the plastic stuff tastes bad. LOL imaluckydog

I get that a lot. I am being excluded from lunches and food days because they assume I have to eat "special" foods. I can have absolutely anything I want just in moderation.

Having said that, I bring all my own foods to work nearly every day. I eat every 3-4 hours so I have an insulated lunch bag on my desk all day. I cook foods and divide into meals. I know that I will get tired of eating the same thing over and over so I give my son the leftovers for his lunches. He's a happy guy.

I find that rarely do I have the inclination to eat out.

Not have real food again? Really? I eat better food than 90% of the people I know. Tonight I am having a steak on the grill with a baked potato with butter, cheese and sour cream. Yes, I admit, its only a 2 oz steak but I am going to savor it by taking small bites and chewing well, and my potato is just a new potato and is small but its still good. Tell your friend that food doesn't have to be overwhelming in portions to be good.

ETA: When you only eat 2 oz of steak at a time you can afford to buy the best ones in town!
