I finally had my surgrey on May 25th. Since then I have lost 17 lbs!! I am not sure if there is anyone out there who is having a really hard time emotionally. I have been real snappy with everyone, feeling like I want to jump out of my skin, crying more than usal. Really, really hungry... Anyone else going through this? I am going to a support group this week..but in the mean time I am not sure..I feel that I am not going to be able to lose the weight and that everyone is watching me to see if I will fail..anyways, having a hard time.

People are watching...but this is FOR YOU, and ABOUT YOU, not them. If they don't know enough about it they can't even imagine how this works as a tool. Our head baggage is still there. I totally get what you are saying, and everyday I tell myself any loss is great! Better than before. This tool of mine can only help me if I help myself. Just plug away at good choices every time you eat, and if you goof, start fresh by the next thing you put in your mouth. You won't be perfect, but as things go you will learn more, each fill is different and I am finding (only having this done in Feb) that I can see my baggage clearer and clearer and I think that is a good thing. To see it, is the first step to fixing all those things we have beaten in our heads.

I hope you just keep on keeping on, have faith the tool will work for you, we didn't put on this weight over night and it wont come off that fast. Slow and steady wins this race.

And remember THIS IS YOUR JOURNEY and it is a good time to be selfish.

Hi. I had my surgery on May 13th, and I think I am actually "mourning" food. I'm not really restricted, since I won't get my first fill until June 22, so it seems like I have very minimal restriction, and am hungry alot. The only thing that seems to keep the hunger at bay so that I don't consume too many calories is to continue drinking protein, which I don't really like. But, it keeps the hunger at bay, for the most part.'

I also feel like I should have lost more weight by now, since I am now eating only about 1000 calories a day...and that makes me cranky! But, as Hotenuf2 says just above, we just have to keep keeping on and it's not meant to come off fast...I believe, from reading other posts, that it is normal to mourn the loss of food and spend some time addressing the emotional issues that cause me to want more than I need. Good luck!

Yes Briarrose...there is MOURNING...and you know I have had my 3rd fill and it has started over with way more restriction than I have had and a lot less food....not in a bad way...just in a learning way.

I love EAS low carb protein drinks! My fav, and kept me going. And sometimes I put in protein from GNC to thicken it up.

It is good to see that I am not the only one mourning my old relationship with food. It has been my best friend for so long and it is sad to see it go, even though it is way better for me now. I am getting 2nd fill tomorrow. I really hope it helps. I feel like I am always hungry.

Every day since the surgery I have periods where I feel like you do. Scared to eat because I might gain weight back, scared not to because it might mess things up. I was crying the other day to a friend and she told me to be happy I had the opportunity to have the surgery, and even if it takes longer, it WILL work. That helped for awhile.

Last night I tried to picture myself gaining 5 lbs a month. Where I would be at Christmas. Even if I only lose 5 lbs a month until Christmas that's 35 lbs LOST instead of 35 lbs gained! At least a size or two!

Have a good day! Hugs!!!!!
